The Met Office has issued a weather warning for across our region.

Preparing your home before a storm can help prevent damage and keep you safe.

Before a storm, you can:
- remove any loose or weak branches from trees in your garden
secure garden fences, sheds and other things like trampolines and benches in your garden
- put away or secure outdoor furniture
park your vehicle somewhere safe and make sure there are no loose items around it
- Please avoid travelling if possible and take extra care during necessary travel.

When you report damp and mould to us, we'll work with you to reach the right solution. We may arrange for one of our surveyors or a member of our damp and mould team to visit your home. This helps us fully understand the issue and decide what needs to be done to put things right.

During the visit, our surveyor will:

• Assess the areas affected by damp and mould

• Use a damp meter to check moisture and humidity levels in your home

• Make sure ventilation systems are working properly

• Talk you through what we've found, what happens next, and whether any repair work is needed

Our former tower blocks are being put to good use before they’re demolished.

We’re working with Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service to make the buildings available for firefighter training, giving crews a valuable place to practise and develop their skills.

It’s great to see the buildings continuing to serve a useful purpose and support the people who help keep our communities safe.
