πŸ’™ The Circle of Control πŸ’š

🧑 In counselling, we recognise that growth often begins when we gently turn our attention towards what is within our control, rather than becoming overwhelmed by what is not.

We cannot control other people's thoughts, feelings, choices, or behaviours. We cannot control the past, the opinions of others, or many of life's uncertainties.

What we can control is how we respond. We can choose to listen to ourselves with compassion, honour our feelings, set healthy boundaries, and make decisions that align with our values.

By focusing on what we can control, we nurture self-awareness and growth, even in the face of life's challenges.

πŸ’¬ Take a moment today to ask yourself:

✨ What can I let go of? ✨ What is one small thing within my control that I can do for myself today?

Sometimes, a small shift in focus can make a big difference.

πŸ’™ If you're looking for counselling, whether through our core service or privately, please email us at: [email protected] or visit our website at www.sapssunderland.co.uk to make a self-referral.

πŸ₯° As Carers Week comes to a close today, we'd like to take a moment to recognise all the carers out there who give their hearts, time and resilience to supporting their loved ones.

Caring for someone affected by addiction can bring many challenges, often leaving carers feeling isolated, overwhelmed and unappreciated. But we want you to know that we see you, we hear you and we are here for you.

Behind every person facing addiction is often a family member providing love, support and hope. Your strength, compassion and dedication do not go unnoticed.

You don't have to travel this journey alone. Please get in touch if you need our support or know of anyone that may benefit for our support πŸ’™πŸ’šπŸ§‘πŸ’™

πŸ’™ Our pilot groups are going well, and we're learning so much along the way.

Why are we running pilots?

✨To establish whether there is a need for the groups we are targeting.

✨To gather feedback from our core clients and the wider community on how best to support them and their families.

✨To identify what is needed to create a safe and welcoming environment.

✨To understand which days and times work best for individuals and families who may wish to attend.

✨To determine how often groups should run and whether they can be sustained without external funding.

✨To identify the most suitable days and times to maximise attendance and ensure groups are accessible to those who need them where possible.

Thank you to everyone who has taken part and shared their feedback so far. It is helping us shape future support services πŸ₯°

Two lovely groups today πŸ’™

Our Crafty, Cuppa & Chat group ran for those we support through our core services, and this evening we held our ND group, where we welcomed a couple of new faces alongside some familiar ones from our daytime ND group πŸ₯°

Creating safe, supportive spaces where people can connect, share experiences, and feel understood is so important πŸ’š

We love seeing new connections being made and our community continuing to grow 🧑

Keep an eye out for our upcoming groups πŸ’™
