Grindon Church Community Project situated on Galway Road, just off A183 on the west side of Sunderland is hidden away in the middle of a housing estate, the Grindon United Reformed Church was built in the 1950s and now works with the community in a wide variety of ways. Grindon URC became a Mission Project of the Northern Synod of the United Reformed Church in 2010 and continues as a church for

all, as well as a busy Community Centre. We are a venue for many exciting groups with room for more! The following groups are open or opening soon. We really can't wait. A weekly activity and group guide:-

Jubilate - youth and adult choir Ages 8 to Adult Tuesday 7.15pm—9.15pm Contact group

Shinzen-Ki Karate 5 years to Adult Tues & Thurs 5.45pm—6.45pm Contact group

Over 50’s/ Long term heath exercise Adult Wed 10am –10.45am Currently free

Men’s Group – friendly activities and chat. Adult Wed 5.30-7.30 Free

Craft n Natter – try out a wide range of crafts or bring your own to do. Adult Wed 5.30-7.30 Free

Grindon Painters - Art group Adult Thursday 10am—12 noon £3 donation

John’s Gardening Group Adult Wednesday &Friday 10am—12 noon FREE


Garden Church/Messy Church—coming soon Everyone Details to be confirmed. FREE

We're on the lookout for leaders/teachers wanted for Tai Chi, Meditation, Mindfulness, Children's gardening, Line Dancing and more

All groups are currently welcoming new members so get in touch or come along as soon as we are open again!

We're delighted to have been made a feature of an article written by local author/historian and journalist Peter Sagar recently on North East Bylines. You can read about Peter's visit to the Project here:

Peter will also be visiting GCCP on Wednesday 30th September to deliver a talk entitled 'Mining Heritage - Green Futures' where he will talk about the regions industrial heritage and the opportunities presented by the growing 'green industry' in the North East.

We're thrilled to announce our next See You in the Garden event here at GCCP. On the 12th of September we're hosting our first Garden Camp Out!

Pop down from 3pm on 12/09/26 for food, games, hot s'mores and camping out under the stars in our community garden.
