It’s Friday morning, and , so we’ve got a quick game you can play 👀

There’s only one condition: you’ll need to work out the rules yourself.

Go on, give it a go here: https://moneyready.org/the-cost-of-not-knowing-game-with-no-rules/

If you’re still confused, it’s not you that’s the problem. There’s nothing fair about playing a game without the rules. And that’s how life without access to financial education can feel.

Every day, people across the UK make financial decisions that shape their lives – decisions about saving, borrowing, and planning for the future.

But too often, those choices are harder than they should be. When people aren’t taught how the system works or given the confidence to navigate it, the cost can be high.

If you think financial education should be a right, not a privilege, sign our open letter here: https://moneyready.org/conk-open-letter/

We’re calling for financial education to be lifelong, inclusive, and embedded in every school and service.

Starting uni is a huge life transition: new city, new independence, and for many, the first time managing money entirely on their own.

Our Cost of Not Knowing research found that 54% of 18–24-year-olds worry about money, and 22% wish they'd learned about student loans earlier.

That's why we're running for a second year. Starting today till 12th August, we're sharing guidance on student finance, budgeting and repayments, because a little knowledge goes a long way.

To kick things off, our latest Learning Hub article breaks down the three things that make the biggest difference to your finances at uni: how student finance actually works, how to budget once you're there, and what repayments really look like after graduation.

Read it here: https://moneyready.org/?post_type=library&p=3722 and follow along all week as we share tips, resources and lived experience insights to help students make money make sense for uni.

Financial hardship can creep up fast, especially for young people managing life on Universal Credit. But the right knowledge can turn things around.

Aimee turned her money worries into confidence and control. After a financial education session with Money Ready, she learned how to budget, opened her first savings account and found ways to cut costs she hadn't known of before. Today, she's debt free and living independently.

Aimee's story is proof that with the right support, things really can turn around. That's why we're campaigning for The Cost of Not Knowing, because financial education should be a right, not a privilege.

Read Aimee's full story here: https://moneyready.org/update/the-money-awareness-that-makes-a-difference/

Aimee’s story: how Money Ready’s financial education helped her become debt-free and independent as a young person living in the UK.

Have you ever lost money simply because no one explained how something worked?

A pension scheme you didn't fully understand. A loan that cost more than it should have. A "good deal" that wasn't. This is because most of us were never taught how these systems actually work.

You learn to drive before getting on the motorway. The same should be true of money.
