The way UK fisheries are managed is changing. The Joint Fisheries Statement (2022) signals a movement toward co-management – where the industry and policymakers collaborate in decision-making.

It's been an honour to attend the The Seafarers’ Charity Annual Meeting at the breathtaking Lloyds Register Foundation today. It was so important to hear both organisations bringing fishing safety to the forefront of the discussions.

Our F-REPs are three day events designed to get people from the fishing industry, science and fisheries management to understand each other’s expertise and work together effectively.

This week, we are reading up on the latest EFRA Committee report "Resetting the Relationship with Fishing Communities"

The recommendation that people working for government and people running fishing boats should meet regularly in-person - as is the norm on farms - really resonates! The need for genuine, in-person connections is a hot topic across every F-REP's we run! It is such a valuable way to build trust and a better understanding.

The EFRA Committee today publishes its report, ‘Resetting the relationship with fishing communities’, outlining how the Government can help the UK fishing industry thrive after a number of unforced errors.

The All Party Parliamentary Group on Fisheries recently launched a Call for Evidence to support the development of an Action Plan for "a Thriving and Sustainable UK Fishing industry", inviting you to get involved and share ideas to guide this plan.
