“Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” — Mark 6:31 🌿
Do you ever feel like there are so many voices "coming and going" that you don't even have the chance to eat? Between emails, texts, and the demands of home, our internal spaciousness can disappear.
In her new guest blog, Grace Owen invites us to look at the "audacity" of Jesus. Amidst growing popularity and pressing needs, He chose to step back. He chose the quiet.

Reflect with us today:
✨ Where are you on the "treadmill of busyness"?
✨ What would it feel like to create a countercultural "temporary pause"?
✨ Is God inviting you to a quiet place this season?
Read the full reflection and join the invitation to retreat.

Our online events are spaces of deep learning and formation, but they don't happen without our amazing volunteers.

We are looking for Hosts and Tech Support to help our online workshops and trainings run smoothly. If you are a member and have a heart for hospitality or a knack for Zoom, we’d love to have you on the team!

The best part? As a thank you, every time you volunteer for an event, you earn a free spot at another training or workshop of your choice. It’s a wonderful way to continue your own development while serving the community.

Join our Information Meeting:
🗓 Date: Tuesday, May 26th
⏰ Time: 18:30 – 19:30
📍 Location: Online

Come and find out how you can get involved. Get in touch at [email protected] or via your members email.

“God is he. This has been true for nearly every Christian everywhere. Forever. In songs and hymns and stories and books and scripture, God is he. Almost every theologian and preacher and priest and pope and organist and author and mega church leader, and telly evangelist is also a he. And for most of us, that's kind of a "non-fact". It's just the way things are the long overlooked decor of our Christian lives. The wallpaper we didn't notice because it's been there forever. It sets the tone, but we really don't see it. The trouble is, a few years ago, I did start noticing.” - Catherine Cowell

Join us for a special LCSD Members' event as we peel back the wallpaper to discover the "Feminine Side of God."

We’ll be looking at feminine biblical imagery and asking: why is there an imbalance, and how does this affect the way we sit with others in spiritual accompaniment?

God is always present with the person in front of you.

Sometimes we skip a step in our spiritual lives. We rush to ask, "What does this mean?" before we have even paid attention to "What actually happened?".

Ignatian practices invites us to slow down through the Examen. By noticing where we felt life and where we felt resistance, our inner world stops feeling like a random tangle and starts becoming a place of encounter.

Notice: What moved you this week?

Name: Does this draw you closer to hope (Consolation) or pull you into isolation (Desolation)?

Respond: What is one small, faithful step—agere contra—you can take toward God today?

"To be truly Ignatian is to believe that God is always leading us toward greater freedom and our true selves." — Dr. Jason Clark.

Are you discerning a call to the ministry of Spiritual Direction?

The Encounter course provides a robust, ecumenical framework for those looking to help others discern God’s Spirit in everyday life. Students describe the experience as "formation through relationship, reflection, and grace-filled presence."

We invite you to our upcoming Online Open Evening to explore our curriculum.

What to expect:
Direct access to the Course Director and tutors.
Clarity on time commitments and practicalities.
Hear firsthand about the course structure, teaching, and experience
Experience a taste of what training is like through a short interactive session
Connect with others considering this journey

As one student put it: "I have felt lovingly equipped—not just with skills, but with the heart posture needed for this sacred ministry."

For most Christians, God is He. That’s the unnoticed wallpaper of our Christian lives, impacting our understanding of both God and ourselves. In this LCSD Member session, spiritual companion and author Catherine Cowell will join Fiona Koefoed-Jespersen for a conversation on discovering the beautiful, but often overlooked feminine imagery for God in the Bible and an exploration of why our view of God has been so masculine, why that imbalance might be a problem and what we might want to do about it.

Catherine and Fiona will explore how this theme might show up in the spiritual direction space, and what the implications might be. There will be opportunity for Members to talk with one another in breakout rooms, and a Q&A session to go deeper. If you are a member, please join us and sign up via your members email.
