As the inquiry into student loans and taxation of graduates takes place in Westminster today, and the BBC reports that a third of British people now think that university isn't worth it, we have been exploring the big question about the benefits of going to a top university. Students from under-resourced backgrounds already face considerable challenges and should have the same opportunities to achieve their potential.

Does university remain a viable route for students on our programmes? πŸŽ“

It's Volunteers' Week! πŸ₯³

This week, we're giving thanks to our wonderful community of volunteer coaches and tutors. We're lucky to have around 1,000 volunteers working to make a difference in young peoples' lives every single day. Whether it's helping with exam prep and revision or guiding a student to grow their skills, we're immensely thankful for our volunteers' time and dedication to our mission.

Please join us in a round of applause for all our volunteers! πŸ‘

We are excited today to launch a new corporate partnership with Kaizen Reporting, a leading provider of regulatory compliance solutions for global financial institutions. Through the partnership, Kaizen Reporting and The Access Project will work together to create long-term positive impact for the students on our programmes in our partner schools and the communities they serve. Additionally, Kaizen Reporting's employees will be making a direct difference to students by volunteering as skills coaches, supporting students to build confidence, develop key skills and improve access to higher education opportunities.

Anna Searle, CEO of The Access Project, said: β€œEvery year, we meet young people who are talented, ambitious, and keen to succeed in education and beyond but who lack access to the critical resources and guidance they need. Partnering with Kaizen means that we can offer support to even more young people from under-resourced backgrounds and set them up for future success. We are grateful to Kaizen for supporting us on our mission so that our students can raise their aspirations and achieve social mobility.”

We look forward to working with you, team Kaizen! πŸ’š

Another great visit to the University of Oxford last week! πŸ’š

Year 10 pupils from the West Midlands enjoyed sampling student life at Keble College, touring the campus, taking in the architecture, and engaging in fascinating subject taster sessions.

Thanks to our partners at Keble College, Oxford for making this trip possible and providing vital funding for our work in the West Midlands.

It's our third year celebrating Learning at Work Week here at The Access Project ⭐.

Across two weeks, staff and trustees are delivering sessions on everything from Ancient Egyptian art to women in leadership. There really is something for everyone!

Beth, who is leading this initiative on behalf of our social committee, said: "We want learning at work to feel fun and accessible, with colleagues and trustees leading sessions on everything from their areas of expertise to the topics they’re passionate about. It’s always such an inspiring time, and a brilliant reminder of how amazing the people we work with are."

Thank you to all the staff and trustees that are running a session for us this year - we couldn't do it without you! πŸ’š
