The Access Project works with high-potential students from disadvantaged backgrounds, providing in-school support and personalised tuition to help them gain access to selective universities.

Volunteer to inspire young people like Ray 💚

At The Access Project, Ray takes part in one-to-one skills coaching sessions with a volunteer coach. Ray says that coaching is helping him work towards achieving his dreams of studying history at a top university 🎓

Online volunteering opportunities now open! 💚

Could you be a volunteer coach?

We're on the lookout for volunteers to work one-to-one with young people on our programme. As a coach, you'll help a student to develop essential skills to help them succeed in school, the workplace, and beyond.

The position is open to anybody who has completed an undergraduate degree and/or has at least three years of professional experience. You don't need any previous skills coaching experience - just a passion to make a difference 🙌

When volunteer coach Kayan applied to be a skills coach in 2025, he had no idea how rewarding the Skills for Access coaching programme would be, both for him and student, Tyler.

Kayan, an Investor at long-standing partner Bain Capital, originally began his volunteering journey with The Access Project as a tutor, and returned to volunteer with us at the end of last year, this time as a coach to Tyler.

We spoke to Kayan about what motivates him to volunteer with The Access Project and his experiences of the coaching programme 💚.
