Our Chop & Chat: Social Evening Gardening drop-in series is here!

Hosted by the environmental charity ⁠Bankside Open Spaces Trust (BOST), these relaxed, friendly evening sessions are perfect for any skill level. No experience needed!

Come along to master composting, pick up plant ID tips, and help us recycle green waste into high-quality soil for our neighborhood parks. ♻️

🌱 Exciting news!

We're delighted to welcome The Finnis Scott Foundation as a new funding partner of Future Gardeners.

Future Gardeners is our free 10-week horticulture training and employability programme, helping people develop practical skills, gain qualifications and explore careers in the horticulture sector.

Thanks to this new funding, we'll be able to support student travel and other participation costs, helping remove financial barriers and making the programme more accessible.

Since launching in 2016, 76% of our graduates have taken their first step into horticultural employment, apprenticeships or further training within six months of completing the course.

A huge thank you to The Finnis Scott Foundation for supporting the next generation of gardeners and helping more people access green career opportunities.

⚠️ COMMUNITY NOTICE: Extreme Heat Warning ☀️👇

With a rare Extreme Heat Warning active across London, temperatures are expected to reach up to 38°C+ over the next few days.

While our community spaces and gardens remain open, your safety is our top priority.

If you are planning to visit us at Waterloo Millennium Green or any of our other green spaces, please follow these public safety guidelines:

🕒 Avoid Peak Hours: Stay indoors or seek air-conditioned environments during the hottest parts of the day, typically between 12 PM and 5 PM.

🌳 Seek Shade: If you do visit, stay under the shade of the trees and avoid prolonged direct sunlight.

💧 Hydrate: Bring plenty of water with you to protect against heat exhaustion and heatstroke.

🔥 No Fires/BBQs: Our grounds are extremely dry. Open fires and BBQs are strictly prohibited across all spaces. Check out BBQ friendly parks like Burgess Park nearby.

🐾 Check on Others: Keep a close eye on children, vulnerable family members, and pets, who are at a higher risk of heat stress.

Stay safe, look out for one another, and keep cool.

Looking for something fun to do with the family this weekend?

Join us from 12 midday to 2pm at Living Space for a free session of games, sports, crafts, refreshments and community fun. From Tug of War to the Crossbar Challenge.There will be plenty to keep children active and entertained.

💬 We also want to hear from you!

We're inviting local families to help shape the future of the playground by sharing ideas, feedback and suggestions. Your voice can help influence future improvements to this much-loved community space.

🌹 Join us tomorrow at Octavia Hill's Red Cross Garden for a special community celebration marking 20 years since the garden's restoration.

Enjoy an afternoon of maypole dancing, live music, family crafts, refreshments, Victorian themed activities and heritage displays in one of Southwark's most historic green spaces.

The event celebrates the legacy of Octavia Hill and F***y Wilkinson, whose vision helped create this remarkable garden more than 130 years ago.

"I applied because I’m committed to a career in horticulture. Volunteering has shown me how much I enjoy practical gardening and caring for green spaces. It was a great chance to learn from professionals and meet people who share same interests.

I gained theoretical knowledge and practical skills from the course, moreover I have a better understanding how the industry works. I feel more confident after CV workshop educational trips, industry talks, work experience and constant support from the curators and now I have been offered a job!"
