We believe that every young person should have the chance to change their life through music. Yet our research shows that many can’t because of who they are, where they’re from or what they’re going through. Our insights, influence and investment in grassroots organisations and to young people themselves means that more 0–25-year-olds from can make, learn and earn in music. Youth Music is a national charity funded thanks to the National Lottery via Arts Council England, players of People's Postcode Lottery and support from partners, fundraisers and donors.

Together, we created space to exchange knowledge from across the music industries, celebrate young talent and connect with Liverpool’s deep love of music.

What can £1 million do when it goes straight into young creatives’ hands?

Quite a lot, actually!!

Through our NextGen Fund, young creatives have used the money in the way that works for them, whether that’s paying for studio time, getting the right equipment or covering costs.


And this is what they told us:

💥 96% said the fund helped them make things happen on their own terms and improved their confidence.

✨ 94% said it improved the quality of their work.

🚀 54% progressed into employment opportunities as a result.

That means more tracks made, more projects released, more ideas brought to life and more young creatives taking their next step in music. And we’re really proud to have played a part in that.

This month, we’re sharing brilliant updates from TACO Made with Music, Bristol Old Vic, Magic Acorns and The Spark Arts for Children. With musical storytelling, to Made in Bristol 260 beginning rehearsals, Park Life workshops, And Cardboard Chaos!

£1 million invested in young creatives 💥

The Youth Music NextGen Fund has now backed hundreds of young people facing barriers in music with funding they can use in the way that works best for them.

The impact so far:

🎵 882 tracks created
💿 147 EPs and albums released
🎬 176 music videos produced
🎤 254 events delivered

We've seen our community go on to win awards, play in major festivals, start businesses and take big steps in their music careers.
