🌟 60 Second Spotlight: Toucan Employment 🌟

From interview panels to 26-year careers, does things differently.

We met Alex Margolies, CEO, who told us how this pioneering supported employment charity has built something truly special: a service with no time limit, where people with learning difficulties, disabilities and autism get support for as long as they need it.

Continuous backing through management changes. Life-changing job security. And a genuine commitment to getting the right people into the right roles. 🤝

As a recipient of the Team London Bridge Building Communities Fund, Toucan Employment has been able to expand their Client Interview Panel, opening it up to other organisations supporting people with learning difficulties, disabilities and autism.

For Alex, it’s simple: support people to find work, and keep supporting them to stay in it. And that’s exactly what they do.

🍊 60 Second Spotlight: Hay’s on the River 🍊

This week we’re spotlighting in London Bridge. We met Lyla, Head of Marketing, who told us how this brilliant riverside bar brought a Spanish taverna vibe to the Thames, and never left.

What started as a pop-up in 2021 proved so popular it became a permanent fixture. Great pizzas, cocktails, a collaboration with Tanqueray flor de Sevilla, crisp pints and unbeatable views of the London skyline. ☀️🍕

Hay’s on the River is part of Summer by the River, the annual festival celebrating and its community. And this year there’s even more to explore, with sister pop-up .ldn just one minute away by London Bridge City Pier.

Both bars are taking part in a brilliant charity initiative: for every drink you buy, five pence goes to charity. 🤝

For Lyla, London Bridge is simply the best. A mix of people, energy and atmosphere that makes it somewhere worth showing up to every single day.

We met Chalice Richardson, Director, who told us how this brilliant community charity has built something truly special: an open-door space where everyone is welcome, whether you’re local or just passing through.

Fresh bread from Borough Market. Essential food support. And a genuine sense of belonging. The impact is felt across the whole community. 🤝

As a recipient of the Team London Bridge Building Communities Fund, Draper Together has been able to launch new programmes and keep growing, with a roller skating club coming soon.

🌱 60 Second Spotlight: Edible Rotherhithe 🌱

This week we’re spotlighting We met Christina, Founder and Trustee, and Pascal, to learn how they’re helping young people connect with nature in a meaningful way.

What makes this initiative so special is its hands-on approach to learning. Children are taught how to grow their own food, eat more healthily and understand the natural world around them, from overcoming fears of insects like bees and spiders to seeing how everything fits into the wider ecosystem. 🌼🐝

As a recipient of the Team London Bridge Building Communities Fund 2025–26, Edible Rotherhithe has been able to continue delivering its Forest School programme, giving primary-age children the chance to learn outdoors, build confidence and improve their health and wellbeing.

The impact is immediate. Children step out of the classroom and into a calm, open environment where they can truly thrive.

Christina was also recognised this year with a Team London Bridge Social Impact Award in the Local Community Champion category, celebrating her dedication and the impact she’s made by going above and beyond for the community. 🏆

With support from local funding and partnerships, including their purpose-built polytunnel, the team is creating a lasting legacy, nurturing not just plants, but happier, healthier and more confident young people. 🌿

This week we’re spotlighting !

We met Marcos Peña, ESG Manager, who leads the environmental sustainability and social value strategy for the whole site.

London Bridge City is more than just a workplace. Whether you’re visiting for the summer and winter events or enjoying the retail, there’s a whole lot of behind-the-scenes work making it a sustainable destination. 🌿

The team were recognised by Team London Bridge with a Sustainability Award, celebrating their joined-up approach across partners, from their printing and design agency to their environmental services, cleaning team, and engineering and monitoring team. A true well-oiled machine working to reduce their collective impact. 🤝

Looking ahead, Marcus is excited about expanding LBC’s recycling infrastructure, not just recycling more but actively reducing waste. Technology is playing a big role too, with better data driving smarter waste management and improvement strategies. ♻️

60 Second Spotlight: Tower Bridge Collective 🌍

This week we’re spotlighting , part of the .family group. We met Andy, Head of Operations, who told us why this is so much more than your typical food court. 🍽️

Under one roof, you’ll find food from all around the world, a curated events programme (much of it free) and a workspace with bottomless coffee from to keep you going through the week. With a roster of independent partners who have grown alongside the business, there’s a real sense of community at the heart of it. ☕

💚 60 Second Spotlight: Hilson Moran 🏢

This week we’re spotlighting in London Bridge. We met Steve Johnson, Technical Director, who shared how the consultancy provides sustainability and building services advice across every stage of a building’s life cycle.

Hilson Moran has been involved in some iconic projects, including 30 St Mary Axe and 20 Fenchurch Street, as well as stadiums for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Closer to home, the team won Team London Bridge’s Health Award for the fit-out of their London Bridge office, where thoughtful choices around materials and extra plants, improved air quality and helped create a healthier workplace for staff. 🌿

Steve was also recognised with the Team London Bridge Climate Leadership Award for his work chairing the Net Zero steering group over the past three years, helping drive forward climate action across the district. 🌍

Looking ahead, 2026 is shaping up to be an exciting year for Hilson Moran, with projects ranging from solar farms to the master planning of new towns. For Steve, working in London Bridge has its perks too - from the riverside office views to being part of a clean, vibrant and forward-thinking neighbourhood.

60 Second Spotlight: HMS Belfast 🚢

This week we're spotlighting HMS Belfast. We met Ngaire, from the Learning & Engagement team, whose job is making sure every visitor has a really fun time on board. ⚓

What makes this place so special is how much there is to discover. Spanning 9 decks, from the Captain's Bridge all the way down to the boiler rooms, HMS Belfast is more than a warship. It's a floating town, complete with a dentist, a doctor, and even cats on board. It's history you can truly step inside. 🏛️

The ship has a packed summer ahead, with school groups, Scouts and Brownies staying overnight as part of its sleepover programme.
