At Hestia we support adults and children in times of crisis. We deliver services across London and the surrounding regions, as well as campaign and advocate nationally on the issues that affect the people we work with. This includes victims of modern slavery, women and children who have experienced domestic abuse, young care leavers and older people. From giving someone a home, to helping them to get the right mental health support, we support people at the moment of crisis and enable them to build a life beyond a crisis. We are supported by more than 460 volunteers across London who provide specialist skills such as art therapy, yoga, IT, gardening and cooking, as well as befriending and fundraising.

Eric left more than a gift in his will. He left a lasting legacy of joy, friendship and community. ❤️

For more than 25 years, Eric was part of Hestia’s Age Activity Centre. His love for the centre was something he proudly shared with those closest to him.

Before he died in 2023, Eric chose to leave a gift in his will to Hestia.

His generosity is now helping the centre continue to support older people for years to come.

At Hestia, our Stronger Together network creates a space for colleagues from ethnically diverse backgrounds to connect, share experiences and support one another.

It’s a place to celebrate our shared experiences and cultures, have honest conversations and work together to create a more inclusive Hestia.

This October, we’ll be sharing stories on inclusive leadership and celebrating and honouring the contributions of the communities that help shape Hestia.

Modern slavery can affect anyone, and increasingly, it is affecting people born and raised in the UK.

His experience challenges common misconceptions and highlights the urgent need for greater awareness, support, and protection for survivors.

JR rediscovered his creativity in a welcoming space where he felt seen as a person rather than defined by his experiences.

Every year we have a theme. This year’s is ‘This Is Me’, chosen by survivor-artists. It invited them to explore who they are beyond their experiences of modern slavery, celebrating identity, creativity and individuality. ✨

Through their artwork, they share their journeys, perspectives and the things that make them who they are.

For many Londoners, this was a reason they hadn’t sought mental health support.

But you shouldn’t have to reach crisis point before you feel your mental health is ‘serious enough’ to ask for help. 💚

Our 2026 London Mental Health Index highlights the need for support that is:
🟢 Easier to access
🟢 Focused on prevention
🟢 Available closer to home
🟢 Connected to the realities of people’s everyday lives

Where would you feel most comfortable asking for mental health support? 🏠

For many Londoners, the answer is somewhere familiar and close to home.

40% would prefer to access mental health support in local settings such as GP surgeries, community centres or charities.

By comparison, just 16% would prefer to receive support in hospital.

This matters.

If we want people to seek support earlier, services need to feel accessible, familiar and connected to everyday life.

Our 2026 London Mental Health Index explores how we can build mental health support around the communities people live in.
