West Midlands Writers' Guild

The Writers' Guild of Great Britain is the TUC-affiliated union for professional and aspiring writers.

We have about 2,300 members working across television, radio, theatre, film, books and videogames. The West Midlands branch organises industry events and collaborates with other local organisations and professionals for promoting writers. Our first free online member workshop of 2026 will focus on how to network the room as a deaf, disabled or neurodivergent writer. Led by Amanda Graham, it takes place on 15 January, 1-2pm, on Zoom. Live captions and a BSL interpreter will be available.

We're delighted to announce that Jack Thorne is the new President of the WGGB

Jack takes on the role from Sandi Toksvig who is stepping down after 6 years, the maximum term a President can serve under union rules
