Today, we’re celebrating the incredible fundraising efforts of Alex and Selena Matti 🧡

Last September, Alex and Selena took on the 160-foot St Thomas’ to honour their baby boy, Otis.

Their abseil is part of their wider Live For Otis fundraising journey, which has seen them take on incredible challenges, including cycling 1,400km from London to San Sebastián, all to support Evelina London and Children’s Hospice.

Their dedication means more children and families can receive the support and compassionate care they deserve.

Wishing Paul and his team the very best of luck as they take on an incredible challenge for Team Evelina! 💙

Tomorrow, they’ll be paddleboarding 28 miles from Land’s End to the Isles of Scilly to raise money in support of the Evelina London Transplant Team.

Their fundraising will help support children and young people who have received life-saving kidney transplants and are cared for at Evelina London Children’s Hospital.

A huge thank you to Paul and the team for taking on this mammoth challenge to make a difference for children and families.

There is still time to support their fundraiser: https://www.justgiving.com/page/beverley-magowan-6💙

Meet Isabel and Milo 🧡

To say thank you for the care Milo received at Evelina London, he and his big sister Isabel turned their creativity into something truly special. Together, they’ve been creating colourful artworks as part of a family fundraising project.

Not only have they shared lots of creativity and joy along the way, but they’ve also raised an incredible £405 to help support other children and families receiving care at Evelina London.

Thank you, Isabel and Milo, for your amazing support and beautiful artwork!

Feeling inspired? Whether it’s baking, running, painting or something else, we’d love to see how you could fundraise for Team Evelina.

Did you know that £50 could help buy a Virtual Reality (VR) headset to offer a comforting distraction to young patients during medical procedures?

At Evelina London, studies show that immersive VR experiences help reduce anxiety and make hospital stays feel less scary for children - significantly improving their overall experience.

You can help ease fear and bring joy to young patients. Help make a difference and donate today: https://bit.ly/3PdfPWQ

Grace was just days old when her parents were told she might not survive.

After life-saving care, she is now growing up happily. Her mum, Willow, still speaks about the overwhelming relief of knowing her daughter was in the safest possible hands at Evelina London:

"We were treated with the greatest of care, empathy, and compassion, at a time when I felt that there was no hope."

Behind care like this are specialist treatments and equipment, including an apheresis machine, which can be vital in treating children with complex and life-threatening conditions.

It’s that same standard of care we are working to deliver for every child who comes through the doors of Evelina London, including children facing cancer when the new centre opens.

In 2022, incredible Izzie abseiled 160 feet down St Thomas’ Hospital with her orthopaedic surgeon, Mr Michail Kokkinakis.

Diagnosed with cerebral palsy as a baby, Izzie became part of the Evelina London family at just five years old. At the time, her doctors weren’t sure if she would ever walk or talk, but Izzie proved them wrong.

By 11, she’d claimed her first judo title. Today, she’s a world judo champion, five-time European champion, and winner of more than 10 international titles in the disability category.

When she isn’t conquering the world of judo, Izzie is passionate about giving back to the team at Evelina London who helped her get here. Together, Izzie and Mr Michail Kokkinakis raised over £1,200 through their daring descent down St Thomas’ Hospital.

Michail said “I could not be prouder of Izzie and her fantastic achievements.... The team and I can’t wait to see what she goes on to achieve next, and we know that she will continue to inspire children and young people at Evelina London."

Did you know that for some children with cancer, a stem cell transplant can be an essential part of their treatment?

An apheresis machine is a vital part of this treatment. It works by extracting blood and collecting stems cells needed for treatment. This machine is adaptable for smaller bodies, making an intense process much less physically and emotionally overwhelming.

For children and families, this can mean less physical strain, more comfort and more reassurance at a deeply uncertain time.

Your support could help provide an apheresis machine, and give children the best possible chance to recover and thrive. 🧡

Did you know that £25 could help fund magical sensory equipment for therapeutic play sessions at Evelina London?

Play is more than just fun. It's an essential part of a child's healing journey. It sparks imagination and helps children develop vital skills.

Through play, children can express their feelings and even begin to recover. Therapeutic play activities often become an integral part of a care plan, involving not just the child, but also their parents, carers, doctors, nurses, dietitians, and physiotherapists.

By supporting this initiative, you’re helping create moments of joy and growth that children need most during their recovery.
