This June, weโ€™re proud to support with a Project Grant for two Transfeminist Wikipedia Edit-a-thons and our trainers will be there to help you get started.

Transfeminist history and the lives of trans women are under-documented on Wikipedia. These sessions are a chance to change that, together: learn how to edit, work through a list of suggested articles (compiled by researcher Jaye Hudson of TgirlsonFilm), or bring your own.

๐Ÿ—“ Sun 21 & Sat 27 June, 1:30โ€“5:30pm
๐Ÿ“ The Feminist Library, London SE15
Beginners welcome, no experience needed. Just bring a laptop (or borrow one of theirs), set up a Wikipedia account beforehand, and come curious. Snacks provided.

History hasn't always made room for everyone: LGBTQ+ lives and communities have too often been left out of the record, or written about by people who were never part of them.

That's what Wiki Loves Pride sets out to change. It's a global campaign to document and improve LGBTQ+ content across Wikipedia and its sister projects, so our histories are preserved, sourced and free for everyone.

The best part is that anyone can help by adding the article that was missing, uploading a photograph that was never there or correcting the story that was only half-told.

Every edit makes the record a little more complete.

This week is Volunteers Week: a moment to recognise the people who make open knowledge possible. Across our community here in the UK, volunteers are editing Wikipedia articles, running edit-a-thons in libraries and museums, translating between languages, training new editors, and adding the citations, photos, and references that turn information into knowledge.

Thank you to all our incredible volunteers who support Wikimedia UK with training and amplifying a community that believes knowledge should be free, open, and representative.

None of this would be possible without you!

Misinformation? AI? Online bias? Today's classrooms need teachers equipped to help students think critically about all of it.

We've teamed up with Thoughtful Society for Philosophical Enquiry on a new media literacy course for educators that blends philosophical pedagogy, oracy and critical thinking to tackle the big questions: misinformation, disinformation, conspiracy thinking, AI, stereotypes, bias and who owns knowledge.

โ€ข 12 hours, delivered flexibly to fit your timetable
โ€ข All materials included
โ€ข Thoughtful Level One accreditation

The course is ideal for schools, colleges and library networks ready to build digital resilience.

Join us for an evening exploring and documenting Welsh LGBTQ+ history through Wikipedia ๐ŸŒˆ

As part of Wiki Loves Pride, weโ€™ll be coming together at the ***remporium in Cardiff to create and improve articles about Welsh q***r history, people, and culture.

The evening will begin with talks from local LGBTQ+ historians, followed by a collaborative editing session. Whether youโ€™ve never edited Wikipedia before or already contribute regularly, everyone is welcome and support will be available throughout.

The session will be held in English, with Welsh-speaking facilitators available for those wishing to edit in Welsh or other languages.

Free tickets via the link in bio.

Day 1 is a hands-on training day with Wikimedia Deutschland's Wikidata and Wikibase teams.
Day 2 brings the full ecosystem together for dialogue, debate, and collaborative action.

Open knowledge depends on partnerships and we're very proud of the one behind this update.

Wikimedia UK and have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the UN's Food and Agriculture Organization () to expand access to reliable information on food, agriculture and related topics through Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons and Wikidata.

The five-year agreement builds on years of collaboration and makes FAO one of the first UN agencies to formalise this kind of partnership with the Wikimedia movement.

Wiki Loves Earth 2026 starts today!

The world's largest nature photography competition is open from 1 May to 31 July and every image uploaded becomes part of a freely licensed record of the planet's natural heritage on Wikimedia Commons.

It could be anything: a coastline, a hedgerow, the walk you take every morning.

Your photos could illustrate Wikipedia articles read by millions and support education and conservation worldwide.
