The Public Accounts Committee has warned the asylum system is "on the brink of collapse". That's not the fault of those in it. Years of hostile policies have left the system broken and failing those most in need. People are left in limbo by hostile and inhumane policies which fail to provide protection.

"The decline in people coming to UK shown by immigration stats is not a shock. Migrants are not numbers on a spreadsheet.

This drop reflects our lives and the hostility we face and more migrants leaving the country. It shows families ripped apart and lives destroyed. Migrants are not here to be "controlled". We are part of communities.

Seeing a drop of 160,000 people coming to UK in a year, from 331,000 to 171,000 is hardly cause for celebration.

It means fewer people working, and creating jobs, losses to the economy, cuts to social care etc, and all this pales in the face of the harm it is causing to migrants ourselves."

A huge thank you to everyone who took part in our ‘Give Hope a Voice’ event with last night in London.

Thank you to the brilliant writers who shared their voices and stories and inspired us all, and to everyone who came and shared their work, their reflections, and their dancing skills.

This was a truly joyful evening of sharing, being inspired, and building connection and community.

It has been a wonderful collaboration with and every individual who contributed to make the event happen.

Migrant Voice warmly invites you to our ‘Acts of Kindness’ Glasgow event, part of A Million Acts of Hope week, on Wednesday 20 May 2026 from 5:30–7:00pm online.

We would love for you to join us for a memorable evening celebrating acts of kindness that have made a real difference in our lives. Together, we will reflect on moments of care, connection, and support, and celebrate the power of community.

It will be a warm and reflective space to celebrate kindness, community, and connection, where we will share personal stories, uplift one another, and come together in hope.

As part of the session, we will also co-create a zine to capture and preserve these meaningful experiences.
