“The project seems to have brought lots of joy and meaning to everyone involved.” 💜

We love this colourful, joyful and vibrant community project at St Jude’s Street Park the brainchild of local volunteers and headed up by Christine / Ohlala , a recent Make it Happen fund grantee! 🎨👩🏼‍🎨😍

What was once a blank wall is now a vibrant celebration of nature, creativity and community, bringing colour, joy and hope to everyone who passes by!

The mural was inspired by the people who have contributed to the garden’s development and have also built a close-knit community, sharing recipes and ideas for harvested foods.

“While working on the mural, we often received spontaneous feedback from passersby in the street, telling us how much they enjoyed seeing the painting evolve, and how much joy it brings them and their kids...

Part of our volunteers team is unemployed (myself included) so it means a lot that we got to work on this together. Making something pretty and free for everyone to enjoy and supporting the project all the way from start to completion has been an incredibly valuable and life-affirming experience.” - Christine / Ohlala

Do you have a great idea for a community project that could bring joy, hope and beauty to Islington?

We will be holding informal drop-in sessions for Islington residents and small local groups/organisations who are interested in applying to the Make it Happen Fund but have little or no experience of applying for funding.
