There’s been a wave of media coverage about the UK National Screening Committee’s decision to restrict a national prostate cancer screening programme. We share the outrage. This decision risks delaying diagnoses and widening health inequalities.

We stand with patients, families, and clinicians who know early detection saves lives. Read our full statement: pcr.org.uk/uk-nsc-confirmed-recommendation-to-restrict-prostate-cancer-screening-2/

Today, the UK National Screening Committee confirmed it will limit prostate cancer screening to men with a known BRCA2 gene variant who have relevant family history.

We’re really disappointed. This decision leaves out most men at risk and doesn’t go far enough to help save lives through earlier diagnosis.

But this isn’t the end of the road.

Over the past two years, more than 300,000 of you signed petitions, thousands contacted your MPs, and hundreds of MPs backed the campaign. Together, we’ve made real progress and pushed this issue further than ever before.

There is one important step forward: for the first time, the UK NSC will keep its model under review so it can be updated as new evidence comes in.

So the door is still open.

Now, we focus on building the evidence needed to challenge this decision, while continuing to improve diagnosis, raise awareness, and support more men.

It’s also important that this decision is scrutinised by MPs in Parliament, and we encourage people to help make this happen by signing our petition: https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/751472

Thank you to everyone who has stood with us.

This is a setback, not the end. We will keep going.
