🤝 It's Volunteers' Week 2026!

We've launched a new myth-busting campaign to challenge some of the common misconceptions about volunteering at free legal advice clinics.

⚖️ Think you need specialist expertise? Worried about the time commitment? Not sure what's involved? Our latest video tackles these myths and highlights how solicitors can make a real difference through pro bono clinic work.

👏 Huge thanks to everyone who contributed to the campaign and shared their experiences of volunteering.

⚖️ Legal pro bono volunteering opportunities!

Are you a solicitor with a current practising certificate, interested in using your time and expertise to help members of the public access free legal advice?

LawWorks’ Clinics Programme supports a network of over 300 independent pro bono legal advice clinics across England and Wales. These clinics offer essential legal assistance to individuals who might otherwise be unable to obtain it. Volunteer solicitors typically provide advice in key areas of social welfare law, including family, employment, housing, immigration, and welfare benefits.

To explore current opportunities to volunteer with clinics in the LawWorks Clinics Network, please visit our Pro Bono Opportunities page: https://lnkd.in/eHSeDGCW

Can’t find a role that matches your expertise or availability?

Our clinics are always keen to hear from qualified solicitors who want to volunteer. We’d be happy to have an informal conversation about your interests and how you might get involved.

⚖️ What happens when an MP’s office starts seeing more and more constituents facing legal problems, but nowhere local to send them for help?

For the team at Finchley & Golders Green, the answer was simple: build something themselves.

In this new piece for LawWorks, Jack Lubner, Parliamentary Researcher in the Office of Sarah Sackman, shares how the Finchley Free Legal Advice Centre came to life, from finding volunteer lawyers and building local partnerships, to navigating the realities of launching a clinic from scratch.

The article is part reflection, part practical guide, and shows how MPs’ offices and local legal communities can work together to create accessible, community-led legal support where it’s needed most.

We’re proud that LawWorks was able to support the clinic through guidance, insurance, volunteer support and case management advice, helping turn an idea into a working service for local people.

If your MP’s office, firm or organisation is interested in developing a similar pro bono legal advice clinic in your area, we’d love to hear from you: [email protected]

🚶‍➡️🚶‍➡️ On Tuesday 9 June, the LawWorks team will be taking on the London Legal Walk, walking 10km alongside others across the sector to support access to justice.

We’re walking to raise funds for the London Legal Support Trust, which has pledged to donate 100% of what we raise back to LawWorks, so every pound you give goes directly towards supporting our work.

At LawWorks, we connect volunteer lawyers with people who cannot afford legal advice and are not eligible for legal aid, as well as small not-for-profit organisations navigating complex legal challenges. It’s about making sure people aren’t left without options when they need support the most.

If you can, please donate to support our team, or join us on the walk. Every contribution helps strengthen access to justice and the pro bono sector that underpins it.

🏡 Family law is the most common area of advice across the LawWorks Clinics Network, yet for many, it remains out of reach.

In Cardiff, the Zeus Family Law clinic, in partnership with Single Parents Wellbeing, is taking a different approach, working through a trusted community organisation to reach single parents who would otherwise be left without support.

Designed around how people actually live, flexible, accessible, and embedded in the community, it’s a model that shows what becomes possible when pro bono responds to real need.

Access to justice remains out of reach for too many across Wales.

Our LawWorks Cymru Impact Report 2024–25 highlights the growing demand for free legal advice, with over 3,400 enquiries to clinics across the network in 2024, and more than 1,700 people receiving direct legal advice.

Behind these numbers are people facing housing issues, workplace disputes and family breakdowns without clear support, and a pro bono community working to bridge that gap.

The report shows how LawWorks Cymru is expanding its network of clinics and volunteers, strengthening partnerships, and supporting charities at a time when demand continues to rise.
