NI District Vice-Chairman Lenny Lucas has asked me to reach out to you all with the following request.

As we approach the 70th Anniversary of Operation Musketeer, the District Vice-Chairman would be grateful if Branches could let him know whether you are aware of any Branch Members who were involved in the operation.

Operation Musketeer was the Anglo‑French military action launched on 31 October 1956 during the Suez Crisis, following President Gamal Abdel Nasser’s nationalisation of the Suez Canal. The operation involved coordinated action with Israel, which had moved into the Sinai Peninsula. Although short‑lived, it remains a significant moment in post‑war military history and in the service of those who took part.

It may be a long shot, but if there are any veterans or family members in your Branch, it would be greatly appreciated if they could be remembered on this anniversary.

This important event marks fifteen years since the conclusion of Operation TELIC and provides an opportunity to reflect on—and recognise—the service and sacrifice of all those who served during the Iraq War.

We are keen to reach as many veterans of the conflict as possible and would greatly appreciate your assistance in sharing this information widely throughout your Branch and wider networks.

Regrettably, due to other commitments, the branch has had to withdraw from the two invitations scheduled for tomorrow morning. 1. To take part in the Mayor's vintage convoy to Wallace Park. 2. To man a stand at the village in Wallace Park.
The council have kindly offered to retain both for next year's event. It is hoped that we will be able to find volunteers to partake in both.

On Saturday we have been offered the opportunity. To have two seats in the Mayor vintage car convoy. These had been assigned. Due to other commitments they have withdrawn. Jim Spence will attend if someone goes along with him. Is anyone else interested?

If the Branch gets a stand at the Mayors Parade on the 9th May at Wallace Park, we would require assistance to man the stand. Please get in touch with Ian or myself before Friday. Whether this will be viable or not as it is also our Annual Conference is being held at the same time
