We were delighted to hold our 29th AGM yesterday to all our funders, volunteers, supporters and staff team - the hugest thank you.

Being able to share stores of the impact of our support in our local community is so valuable. Eeing able to support families over come barriers is at the heart of what we do and hearing and reflecting on their voices yesterday was so inspirational. Thank you to our families who welcome us in to support them in their parenting journey we are truly privileged to be part of your village of support.

Behind every number is a family. 💜

During 2025/26, Home-Start Lisburn Colin supported:

👶 243 children
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 103 families
🤝 170 packages of support

Many of the families who come to us are facing significant challenges.

🌟 89% are living with low mental health
🌟 84% feel isolated

🌟 22% are single parents

🌟 18% are unemployed

🌟 28% are from ethnic minorities

🌟 22% are living with a disability

🌟 4% are known to have experienced domestic violence
🌟 67% need support to be involved in their child's development
🌟 53% are concerned about managing their children's behaviour

These aren't just statistics. They represent parents who may be struggling alone, children who need support to thrive, and families looking for hope during difficult times.

Our lates outcomes data shows that Home-Start Lisburn Colin is making the biggest impact in helping families cope with isolation, with 30 families fully achieving this outcome and a further 12 partially achieving it.

Strong improvements were also seen in children's development, managing children's behaviour, parental mental health, and parent self-esteem, demonstrating the positive effect of early intervention and ongoing support.

Families also reported increased confidence in managing day-to-day family life, caring for multiple young children, and accessing local services.

Overall, the results highlight how thanks to our incredible volunteers, staff, supporters and funders, families are building confidence, Home-Start’s support helps parents feel less alone, more confident, and better equipped to provide a positive environment for their children's growth and development. 💫

It’s okay to protect your thoughts

💜 Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week 💜

This week shines a light on something so important - maternal mental health. Because behind every mum is a story, and not all of them are easy.

Motherhood can be beautiful, but it can also feel overwhelming, lonely, and exhausting. Many mums experience challenges such as post-natal depression, anxiety, isolation or simply the pressure of trying to do it all.

At Home-Start Lisburn Colin, we’re here to remind every mum that you don’t have to face it alone. Our volunteers provide compassionate, non-judgemental support - whether that’s a listening ear, practical help, or just someone to sit with you on the hard days. 🤝

Home-Start Lisburn Colin is now included in the Tesco Stronger Start grant programme, in both Bentrim Street and Bow Street Stores from today until end of July 2026.

Our programme will support local parents and young children who are feeling vulnerable. We will offer emotional support for parents, a listening ear, regular contact, encouragement, motivation and support for them to become more connected in the local community.

Please support us when you are in either store doing your shopping by posting blue tokens into the Home-Start Lisburn/Colin blue token box. Every token helps us make a difference to local families.
