We were delighted to welcome Wendy Hand from Voluntary Action Shetland to our offices this morning, to deliver a training session to our entire staff group on being Trauma-informed. This session provided lots of food for thought, both in our workspace and as members of our community – many thanks indeed for Wendy coming to share her knowledge and expertise.

‼️OFFICE CLOSED FOR STAFF TRAINING‼️

Our offices will be closed for staff training on Friday 3rd July.

The office will be open as usual from 9am on Monday 6th July.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

📞- If you are a tenant & have an emergency repair during the hours we are closed, please phone our out of hours service on 01595 692387.

If the repair is not considered an emergency, then we will handle your repair request once the office re-opens again on Monday.

An emergency arises where there is danger to life or limb or serious damage to property. We aim to undertake emergency repairs within 6 hours & the following are emergencies:

• A failure in the mains electrical supply, other than a power cut
• A dangerous electrical fault
• A burst water pipe or water tank
• A blocked drain, if there is serious leakage
• A blocked or totally unusable WC, if there is only one in the house
• A property that is insecure, with a broken window or a damaged door, following an event such as a break-in or possibly storm damage

If someone is locked in or locked out if they are or have:

• Elderly
• Disabled
• Children or other vulnerable people living at the property

For all other tenants, being locked out due to a loss of keys is not an emergency and the replacement of keys, will need to wait until our office is open.

Emergency Repair - Total Loss of Heating - 24 Hours

• Where there is a total loss of heating with no alternative, report over a weekend or public holiday, we will complete this repair within 24 hours. Where the issue is complex and can't be resolved within the timescales, an alternative heat source (e.g. plug-in heat) will be supplied.

Hjaltland Housing Association has recently refreshed its tenant factsheets, working closely with members of the Tenant Focus Group to ensure the information is clear, relevant, and easy to understand.

This collaborative approach has helped shape these factsheets to better reflect tenants’ needs and priorities, making it simpler for tenants to access guidance and available support during their tenancy.

The updated factsheets aim to improve communication, ensuring tenants feel more informed, confident, and engaged in their tenancy.
