Supporting individuals aged 14 - 26 to reach their employment goals

Moving On Employment Project support participants all over Shetland to find work placement and employment opportunities in their local area. Moving On provides two services-
• The Transition Support Service- The Transition Support Service is provided by Moving on Employment Project to young people aged between 16-25 with additional support needs and or autistic spectrum conditions. They will be s

upported to promote and enhance their employment opportunities within the local community. The Moving on Employment Project will work with employers to support individuals during work placement to gain and develop work skills, confidence and experience in the employment market. We aim to provide a service which can support individuals in the workplace; our Support Workers are available to spend time with individuals in their work placement or place of employment.

This week, we’re proud to support Scottish Learning Disability Week 2026!

Taking place from 7 - 13 September, this year’s theme is “I am here… to be seen.”

Being seen means more than being visible. It means being listened to, included, respected and valued, having your choices recognised and having a say in decisions that affect your life. This means having the right support in place to participate fully and be included in your community.

Throughout the week, people with learning disabilities and organisations across Scotland will be sharing experiences, starting conversations and challenging the barriers that still prevent people with learning disabilities from participating equally in society.

Scottish Learning Disability Week is an important reminder that people with learning disabilities should not simply be included in conversations about their lives, their voices and lived experience should help shape those conversations from the beginning.
