Shetland RapeCrisis

Shetland RapeCrisis Affected by sexual violence? We can help you to find a way forward. Member of R**e Crisis Scotland. You don’t have to talk about anything you don’t want to.

We provide free, inclusive, and confidential support and information to anyone, of any gender (age 13+), in Shetland affected by any form of sexual violence. This includes survivors, as well as family, friends, and supporters. We can support you after a recent incident or if you experienced sexual violence in the past, whether as an adult or as a child. We will give you the time and space to talk

about what is important to you, and we will listen to what you have to say. We can support you to re-engage with things that bring you joy and help you to discover new things that help you to feel safe and well. In a safe and confidential space, we empower you to engage with your emotions, and to heal. If you are thinking about reporting what happened to you, we can help. We can provide information about the justice system and support you during the justice process, such as accompanying you at a police statement or at court. You are not alone.

💜💜 Taking back your power 💜💜

After experiencing sexual violence, it can feel as though your power has been taken from you.

With support, there will come a moment when things begin to shift.

Not in anger, not in noise - but in a slow return to yourself.

Rebuilding doesn’t look loud. It looks like learning to trust your own voice again. It looks like setting gentle boundaries, choosing safety, and remembering that your needs matter.

There is strength in surviving. And there is even deeper strength in healing - we will help you find the way 💜

📸 Last night, we welcomed the Stand Up S**k Oot participants to a premiere screening of the campaign at Islesburgh - a chance to celebrate their courage and see the finished project together for the first time.

What does it mean to Stand up and S**k oot against gender-based violence?

In our new campaign, eight men from Shetland are sharing their voices, their perspectives, and their commitment to change. A massive thank you to everyone who took part, your honesty and courage is already helping to start important conversations ⭐

Over the past month we have been sharing this campaign in local secondary schools, and now we are delighted to announce that we have launched the videos online for everyone to see 🎥

Reminder we are at the Pride Village today until 4pm at the Sound Hall!

We have launched a new survey to better understanding the needs of LGBTI+ survivors in Shetland and wanted to make this available to complete online. We believe it is important that our services feel safe and accessible for everyone.

This survey is anonymous and all questions are optional. You can leave any questions blank and only answer the questions that you are comfortable with.

Survey closes on Saturday 27th June.

Access the survey here: https://forms.gle/dmr2B7Z7dZpBHy8a6

When we speak to survivors, one of the most common concerns we hear is about confidentiality.

You might wonder:

- What if people find out I’m coming here?
- What if I know the person supporting me?

These concerns are completely valid. We understand that living in a close-knit place like Shetland can bring additional challenges when seeking support. That’s why we actively work to recognise and reduce the impact of these worries.

So, what do we do?
When a referral is made, there is space to highlight any personal connections to our team. If needed, we will ensure you are not assigned to that person. We’ll also discuss this during your initial referral call.

To protect your privacy, we :

-Don't have a waiting room
-Stagger appointment times
-Offer alternative locations
-Provide remote support options

If you have any specific concerns, please talk to us. We will always work with you to find a solution that helps you feel safe and able to access the support you need.
