Shetland RapeCrisis

Shetland RapeCrisis Affected by sexual violence? We can help you to find a way forward. Member of R**e Crisis Scotland. You don’t have to talk about anything you don’t want to.

We provide free, inclusive, and confidential support and information to anyone, of any gender (age 13+), in Shetland affected by any form of sexual violence. This includes survivors, as well as family, friends, and supporters. We can support you after a recent incident or if you experienced sexual violence in the past, whether as an adult or as a child. We will give you the time and space to talk

about what is important to you, and we will listen to what you have to say. We can support you to re-engage with things that bring you joy and help you to discover new things that help you to feel safe and well. In a safe and confidential space, we empower you to engage with your emotions, and to heal. If you are thinking about reporting what happened to you, we can help. We can provide information about the justice system and support you during the justice process, such as accompanying you at a police statement or at court. You are not alone.

A huge thank you to Aaliyah, Tilly and Dylan!!

We are so appreciative of all the YPI groups who chose to pitch for our charity this year. Your passion, effort and support mean so much to us.

We are absolutely delighted that our charity has been chosen as the recipient in this final showcase an incredible achievement for everyone involved!

Thank you again for helping raise awareness and support for the work we do.

For the last YPI Scotland Final Showcase in Shetland of the academic year, Lara travelled to Yell yesterday for the Mid Yell Junior High School and Baltasound Junior High School joint final.

A big well done to all 5 groups that presented and congratulations to Aaliyah, Tilly and Dylan who convinced the judges and secured a £3000 grant for The Compass Centre (Shetland R**eCrisis).

Voluntary Action Shetland is the co-delivery partner of YPI in Shetland, working alongside Arven, the Community Partner for the programme locally.

Grounding techniques can be small but powerful ways to support yourself during moments of distress. 💛

As we enter Mental Health Awareness Week, we’re sharing simple, gentle tools that can be used at home, at your own pace.

If you’ve experienced sexual violence, moments of overwhelm can feel intense - but you don’t have to face them alone. These techniques are here to help you reconnect with the present and your sense of safety.

Take what feels helpful, leave what doesn’t, and be kind to yourself. 🌿

Help us make a difference 💜

Could you help shape the future of OWL?

OWL is a new volunteer group where survivors’ voices are at the heart of everything we do. As we build this space together, your experiences, ideas and insight will help shape something meaningful for survivors, by survivors.

You can join if you:
• Are a woman aged 18+
• Have previously been supported by the Compass Centre (or another R**e Crisis Centre)
• Feel comfortable working as part of a team
• Want to create positive change for other survivors

Your voice matters, and your insights can help make real change.

If you’ve accessed our service but don’t meet this criteria, or you’re not ready to commit to volunteering, we still want to hear from you. There will be other ways to get involved and share your voice.

As we head into a busy season of events across Shetland, we’re looking forward to welcoming people to enjoy music, dancing, and good company.

These events are at their best when everyone feels safe, respected, and able to enjoy themselves fully.

If something doesn’t feel right, for yourself or someone else, trust that instinct.

Check in. Step in. Get help.

Let’s all look out for each other and help keep our events welcoming and safe for everyone.
