We are absolutely delighted that Jim's Garage Ford & Mazda have chosen to support our charity with their Test Drive Event 😀
Come along to this fun, family day and help raise funds for SBSS 😄

Join us on Friday 1st May (9am-5pm) and Saturday 2nd May (9am-1pm) for our Charity Test Drive Event! 🚗

Take a test drive in one of our vehicles and Ford will donate £30 to Shetland Bereavement Support Services (SBSS) for every drive completed.

SBSS is an essential local charity providing invaluable support to families coping with bereavement. Their incredible work helps hold families together during some of life’s most difficult moments, and we’re proud to support such a vital service.

Our goal is to book as many test drives as possible over the event, so every booking truly makes a difference and is so simple to do.

Has your family experienced a bereavement and finding it tough to talk about it? Grief is exhausting and it can be hard to find the right words to talk about it with your children. "I'm not sure what to say?" , "What if I say the wrong thing?" , "What if I can't answer their questions?" , "What if I start to cry in front of them?" 💙. Everyone experiences grief in their own way, and children can jump in and out of their grief. Our memory boxes are packed full of resources to support families to work through their grief together With books, journals, activities and much more, there is something to engage every family member. You are all stars! You have really raised our profile amongst your peers, promoting what we do and why we do it. A huge THANK YOU from all at SBSS 😀 Your hard work means that we will be able to continue our family memory boxes project for another year.❤️

We were delighted to support the delivery of Shetland's first YPI Scotland final for this academic year at Sandwick Junior High School yesterday.

Well done to all groups and congratulations to the winners Lily, Christina, Georgia and Anthea who convinced the judges with their presentation, securing a £3000 grant for Shetland Bereavement Support Service.

Voluntary Action Shetland is the co-delivery partner of YPI in Shetland, working alongside Arven, the Community Partner for the programme locally.

Have you thought about Counselling as a career?? SBSS knows all about the importance of having good counselling support available in Shetland. Having the right support available, at the right time really does make a difference; " I did not expect to gain as much as I did from the sessions, but these have changed me and improved my life forever" (SBSS Client).

Counselling is a rewarding career that involves helping individuals navigate emotional and mental challenges, with various pathways and opportunities for growth. This profession is both meaningful and in demand, with a growing number of roles available across various settings, including schools, hospitals, private practices, and support services.

SBSS actively support students, providing placements for their practical learning. If you are a good listener, can communicate well, have patience and empathy and good problem solving skills you will be well suited to Counselling ❤
