Did you know families with children under 3 who have a disability or serious illness no longer receive any support to access a vehicle ? As you can see the scheme was much needed when it existed. For families like Leo's it was life changing.

This is extremely disappointing news. Lots of our Kindred families are left wondering if they will ever see change . This Bill was a glimmer of hope for them after years of waiting for change . We also feel for everyone who put in so much time working on the Bill. Time is so stretched in charities and it’s incredibly frustrating all that good work will now not be progressed.

🌍 Cultural Competency Training with MECOPP

Today our Team took part in an informative and thought-provoking cultural competency training session delivered by MECOPP.

The session provided valuable insight into the barriers that minority ethnic carers can face, while creating space to share ideas, experiences and perspectives.

It was an opportunity to reflect on both our individual practice and organisational approaches, and to consider how we can better understand, recognise and address barriers to ensure our services are inclusive, accessible and responsive to the diverse communities we support.

A great day of learning, reflection and sharing ideas. Thank you to MECOPP for facilitating such an important and engaging session. 🤝🌍

Are you a parent or carer of a neurodivergent child/young person?

Mindroom, the University of Edinburgh and NHS Lothian have partnered on a project to improve access to support for neurodivergent children and young people (including those on assessment waiting lists). As part of this, they are gathering information about support that is currently available. They would love your help!

Please share a support that’s helped your child/family - maybe a sleep app, a neurodiversity podcast, or a group to help anxiety. Sharing a support only takes a few minutes and will help improve what’s available for others. Tell them about it here: https://edin.ac/4q9cFS2

Our Fife Parent Carer Support Group will be running again tomorrow from 10.30 - 12 at Dunfermline Business Centre, Izatt Avenue. The centre is wheelchair accessible and there is a carpark.

We would love to see you there!

These drop-in sessions are the perfect opportunity to ask questions, access information and advice, and meet other parent carers in a supportive space.
