Parliament is listening and finally a debate on Surrogacy is happening 🩷🧡

On 7 September 2026, surrogacy law will be debated in Parliament thanks to a petition raised by Adam Frisby and Jamie Corbett.

Natalie Sutherland (Natalie Sutherland) has written a guest blog on our website if you want to read the full story

(🔗 in bio or at https://fertilityaction.org/surrogacydebate2026/)

This is a crucial moment for families built through surrogacy - and for the future of UK surrogacy law.

Right now, intended parents can face a lengthy post-birth court process before they are legally recognised as their child’s parents.

The Law Commissions have proposed reforms that could recognise intended parents as legal parents from birth, with appropriate safeguards and checks before conception.

But reform is not guaranteed.

The debate is only the beginning, and MPs need to hear from the people who understand why change matters: intended parents, surrogates, families and professionals.

📣 If you have an opinion on surrogacy and law reform on this, contact your MP today. Ask them to attend the debate and share your view.

Find out more about the debate and how you can take action via the link in our bio.

🩷 Fertility treatment doesn’t stop when the working day begins 🧡

We joined a Government roundtable with familiar faces from the community to share real experiences and discuss what genuinely fertility-friendly workplaces should look like - from flexibility and privacy to inclusive policies and better support.

Ian from testhim | male fertility highlighted that men are part of the fertility journey too, and need time and support for appointments and their partners.

Trustee Laura-Rose Thorogood emphasised the importance of co-production and genuinely inclusive policies that reflect the many people and families impacted by fertility treatment.

Rachel from Pregnant Then Screwed shared that two-thirds of mothers surveyed didn’t feel comfortable disclosing treatment at work, while 40% of those who did reported discrimination.

CEO Katie Rollings highlighted the need to recognise the emotional, physical and financial realities of treatment - including flexibility, private spaces for medication, legal protection, counselling and peer support, before, during and after treatment.

Eleanor from Fertility Matters at Work shared that 99% of over 1,000 employees surveyed said fertility treatment affected their wellbeing, with 87% experiencing treatment-related anxiety or depression.

We were grateful for the expertise and contributions from across the fertility, maternity and workplace support community, helping to strengthen the case for meaningful change. 🩷

**A new chapter for National Fertility Awareness Week 💗🧡**

We’re incredibly honoured to share that **Fertility Action Charity has been entrusted by FNUK to lead National Fertility Awareness Week into its next chapter.**

For 25 years, FNUK has built and championed this important annual awareness campaign, bringing fertility into conversations, raising awareness and helping countless people feel less alone.

As FNUK UK closes, we’re honoured to carry this legacy forward - continuing National Fertility Awareness Week every November, while building on the foundations, impact and spirit of everything that has come before.

Behind the scenes, we’ve been working hard to prepare for what’s next. We’re grateful to have the support of a pro bono PR agency, helping us take the campaign to the next level, while ensuring the legacy of FNUK remains at its heart - with lots more to come! 🩷🧡

Themes, campaign details, resources & ways to get involved are all being developed, and we’ll be sharing more very soon.

But one thing is already clear: **this campaign belongs to all of us.**

From the very first day we became a charity, we’ve held onto these words from Helen Keller:

*“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.”*

And we deeply believe that.

National Fertility Awareness Week belongs to everyone who cares about fertility awareness, education, support and better experiences. We warmly invite charities, organisations, professionals, communities and individuals to join us and help make the campaign **bigger, stronger and more inclusive** with every year.

We’re also proud to be supporting the wider transition following FNUK’s closure, including the transition of its website, resources and social media channels. Alongside other dedicated organisations, charities and individuals, we’re working to ensure that people who rely on fertility support can continue to find connection, trusted information and support during this transition and beyond.

**This is a new chapter - but one built with enormous respect for everything that came before.** 💗🧡

More information coming soon.

🩷🦸‍♀️Introducing THEA!🫶🧡

Thea is a crocheting legend 🙌 who responded to our call out earlier this year for some "homemade sp3rm tails!"

Thanks to these fantastic tails we had SO many questions during our N3P Challenge from other climbers who were intrigued by these wiggly wonders ascending en-masse up the mountains! 🤣

It's amazing how many talents there are within this community and we are SO grateful for each and every one of you!

If you have a talent that you think could be helpful for our fundraising/events or anything else to help the charity - we'd love to hear from you.

And Thea - THANK YOU for this unbelievably kind effort and for making this fundraising event so memorable!! Male Fertility Awareness has certainly reached some new "heights"! 😉🤣
