HAPPY SAFER INTERNET DAY 2025 🚸
Our Child Protection Officer has put together some helpful tips for kids and young people to stay safe online and avoid scams:
1. Keep Personal Information Private
Never share your full name, address, phone number, school name, or passwords with strangers online. Keep your passwords private, even from your friends.
2. Be Careful with Offers That Sound Too Good to Be True
If you see something online that seems like an unbelievable deal (like free stuff, prizes, or money), it’s probably a scam.
3. Don’t Click on Suspicious Links
Don’t click on links or attachments in emails, text messages, or social media posts from people you don’t know.
4. Use Safe Social Media Practices
Keep your social media profiles private so that strangers can’t see what you’re posting. Don’t accept friend requests or messages from people you don’t know, even if they seem friendly.
5. Don’t Download Unknown Apps or Games
Before downloading anything, ask a parent or guardian if it's safe. Only download apps from trusted sources, like the official app stores (App Store or Google Play).
6. Report Suspicious Behaviour
If someone online makes you feel uncomfortable or acts suspiciously, report them to the website or platform and tell a trusted adult immediately.
7. Talk to an Adult
If you see something online that you are unsure about or makes you uncomfortable, always talk to a parent, teacher, or another trusted adult.
