Inclusive Skating

Inclusive Skating Inclusive Skating provides training, education and direct support to the community through virtual and venue based activities.

Our mission is to include, inform and inspire skating for all across the world by providing opportunities and activities for all skaters whatever the challenge or age. Inclusive Skating generates widespread awareness throughout the global skating community to achieve inclusion for all in skating and provides a focal point for development and support for the Inclusive Skating community. Inclusive S

kating started out as a charity to hold an innovative competition system that opened the door for a radically new way to approach the sport of skating for challenged athletes. Inclusive Skating has become a force for change and many skaters have become part of the community and activities extend far beyond the world recognised competition system. Inclusive Skating competitions allow athletes to be evaluated on an “absolute” skating mark, something which can then be realistically adjusted by an internationally accepted functional assessment of impairment compensation reflecting the athlete’s specific disability. The system allows skaters with any form of impairment to compete because the technical rules have also been developed and adjusted to meet their needs and many new events and policies support their inclusion. Skaters then compete fairly against each other through the impairment compensation that is added to the skating score. The system has now been successfully applied at many international competitions since 2012 and Inclusive Skating is holding the first Virtual World Championships in 2021. The dream would be Inclusive Olympic Events for skaters and all athletes with additional needs who have equal access to skating and sporting opportunities.
