Exciting changes are taking shape at Torlundy Farm, a partner in our Loch Abar Mòr nature restoration partnership.

🦅 High in a mature tree, a new osprey nesting platform is waiting for its first residents. No takers yet – but ospreys have already been spotted flying over old fishing ponds on the farm.

💧 A new pond and wetland scrapes have been excavated beside the River Lundy, helping to reconnect the river with its floodplain and create valuable wetland habitat.

🌱 Five fenced seed islands and 300m of hedgerow fencing are ready for planting this autumn, with locally underrepresented native species including hazel, aspen, oak, hawthorn and guelder rose.

This work was made possible by £21,480 from the through The Highland Council, alongside £1,500 from our own Rewilding Fund.

Together, we’re helping create a more varied, connected and wildlife-rich landscape at Torlundy Farm.

The new government's first 100 days, when priorities are set, are nearly over.

But so far, nature recovery has been left without a clear voice in the Cabinet – making it hard to see how Scotland’s biodiversity and climate targets will be delivered.

When politicians return to The Scottish Parliament, we’ll deliver our open letter, calling for a dedicated to fight nature's corner.

Will you help us reach 4,000 signatures before then?

The devastating wildfires in the Cairngorms have sparked intense debate over what caused the blaze and whether it could have been prevented.

Rewilding, deer management, muirburn and government policy have all come under scrutiny. But wildfire risk cannot be reduced to any one factor – and some important nuance is being lost.

In a new opinion piece, our Rewilding Relations Officer, Hugh Webster, draws on his experience working alongside the many people who came together to tackle the blaze on the ground. He argues that the same spirit of collaboration is needed to move beyond the blame game, and prepare Scotland's landscapes for a future of increasing wildfire risk.
