Tickets still remaining for our next concert at the National Galleries of Scotland. 🎶✨

On Thursday 3 September, classical pianist Karolína Kubálkova will perform a programme inspired by the Gwen John exhibition at Modern Two.

Reflecting the quiet, contemplative nature of John’s paintings, Karolína’s programme will take the audience through the musical landscape of the early twentieth century, with works by Rachmaninoff, Ravel and Janáček.

From lyrical Romanticism to shimmering Impressionism and Janáček’s wonderfully introspective sound world, it promises to be a beautiful half hour of music.

The Fountaineers know how to get feet tapping! 👣🎶

We recently had the pleasure of enjoying the music of these fantastic LMNS musicians at the National Galleries of Scotland, where they were met with thunderous applause and plenty of smiles. It was a fantastic concert and a brilliant reminder of the energy, warmth and character they bring to their music.

If you’re looking for some late-summer, end-of-Fringe footstomping and uplifting Americana, this one is for you.

From Music at Paxton to the National Galleries of Scotland, we've had a great few weeks with Rachel and Holli. And we truly appreciate being tagged in their post!

In addition to their busy summer schedule, the duo has also performed in care settings, most recently to tenants at an independent living and support service, where the audience clapped and tapped their feet to the music. As Rachel and Holli shared afterwards, "One woman smiled and laughed along with us all through our set."

From concert halls and galleries to community and care settings, Rachel and Holli's summer is a great reminder of the many ways live music can connect with people. 🎶💛

🎩🐇 Today, this ensemble escaped Wonderland… with just 5 minutes to spare! ⏰

Team LMNS swapped the office for the rabbit hole, solved curious clues, donned some wonderfully ridiculous hats, and somehow, we made it out without losing our heads. 👑

A brilliant day of teamwork, laughter, and just the right amount of madness. 🎶💛

A concert hall one day, a school or care home the next. 🎶 That's the variety of opportunities Live Music Now Scotland offers our musicians, giving them the chance to perform in all kinds of settings across Scotland.

On Saturday 25 July, Duo Marier (Austin Miller, guitar, and Neil Sild, cello) perform as part of Music in Peebles' Summer Concerts, sharing their beautifully varied programme with audiences in the Scottish Borders.

Alongside public performances like this, our musicians also share live music in community settings. Reflecting on recent outreach performances in schools, Duo Marier shared:

"We picked our set with a wide range of pieces and popular songs that would be engaging for the young people at each of the schools, asking them questions about the instruments we play, how we play them and getting them to use their imagination when listening to the music, as well as finishing with a big sing-along. They loved the last song in our set, 'Golden', which many of the kids sang along to at the schools we played at."

During one school visit, the duo were told that two pupils who usually found it a little difficult to settle down had drifted off to sleep during one of the gentle nocturnes they performed — an unexpected response that has stayed with them.

Following a solo residency with Skye Chamber Music, which also included outreach performances, Austin reflected:

"For many of the pupils, it was their first time hearing classical guitar, which led to lots of curiosity and many questions about the instrument. It was rewarding to introduce them to something new and see how engaged they became throughout the sessions."

We recently enjoyed a wonderful afternoon with tenor James McIntyre and guitarist Ross Morris at Paxton House. 🎶

From classical favourites and traditional folk tunes to uplifting songs from across Europe, the duo took us on a joyful musical journey as part of Music at Paxton Plus.

There's still plenty to look forward to, as the main festival starts tomorrow. LMNS is so delighted to see our talented take part once again, especially as the festival celebrates 20 years!

🎵 Saturday 18 July – Rachel and Holli make their Music at Paxton debut.
Rachel Campbell (accordion & piano) and Holli Scott (fiddle) perform a fresh and expressive mix of original compositions, traditional melodies and vocals inspired by their shared roots in Argyll.

🎵 Saturday 25 July – BBC Radio Scotland's Young Traditional Musician of the Year 2026, Rachel Groves brings the beautiful sound of the lever harp, with music rooted in Scottish tradition and inspired by classical, jazz and folk influences.

Why not make an afternoon of it? Take a stroll through the beautiful grounds at Paxton House before or after the concert, and enjoy live music in one of Scotland's most picturesque settings.
