It’s !

We’re celebrating our amazing team of Learning and Engagement Volunteers and all they do to support the work of the Museum - this week and every week. From delivering school workshops to family craft sessions to object handling activities, our volunteers are key.

Each Wednesday over the summer months volunteers like Emma will be in the Museum to chat about our regimental stories and help visitors get hands-on with our history!

“This story isn’t just his; it’s everybody’s.”

We were delighted to attend a reception at The Royal Highland Fusiliers Museum this morning to mark their acquisition of Fusilier Dennis Donnini’s Victoria Cross. The medal was presented by members of Dennis’ family, acknowledging the great care our museums take to preserve and share stories just like his.

Dennis was the youngest soldier of the Second World War to receive the Victoria Cross, aged 19.

The Museum team will be out on the road this week on the first leg of our 20th anniversary ‘Tour of Scotland’.

We’ll be in Aviemore on Wednesday 15 April and in Grantown-on-Spey on Thursday 16 April. Stop by and say hello if you’re in the area!

We’re taking our touring exhibition to towns, events and community spaces across Scotland this year to mark 20 years of The Royal Regiment of Scotland.

From Friday 27 to Sunday 29 March, the castle will light up blue to mark the 20th Anniversary of The Royal Regiment of Scotland 💙.

Formed in 2006, The Royal Regiment of Scotland is the Army’s only Scottish line infantry regiment, bringing several historic battalions together under one shared identity. This anniversary is a chance to celebrate that heritage, the people who serve today, and the connections that continue to shape Scotland’s story.
