By supporting our More Than A Hospice appeal, we can raise £20m to transform children’s hospice care. 💛 We're Children's Hospices Across Scotland, but you can call us CHAS. We care for children throughout Scotland with life-shortening conditions. And, we're here for their whole family. We make sure that no matter how short their time together may be, it is filled with happiness. Even in the pain of grief, we're determined that joy lives on.

This Children’s Hospice Week, we’re celebrating families like Hannah’s.

When her parents Ashley and Bruce walk through the doors of Rachel House with Hannah and her brother Roddy, they know that they have arrived at their home-away-from-home.

For four weekends a year, the Millers get to kick back, relax and have fun in a safe and supportive environment where all the help they need is right at hand.

To us, hospice care is more than a building. It's giving families the chance to really make the most of every moment together - something made possible with your support. 💛

It is and we’re proud to join Together for Short Lives and hospices across the UK to celebrate the incredible care that that children and families receive when they need it most.

We simply couldn’t be there for families at home, in hospital and in hospices without the support of people like you helping us make it happen.

So, this week and every week, we want to say a huge thank you for the difference you make to children across Scotland. 💛

Two of our brave senior Charge Nurses Elaine Liddle and Laura Hart swapped Rachel House for the skies - taking on a 120mph skydive to celebrate their milestone birthdays and raise vital funds for CHAS!

Together they’ve already raised over £2,000 for our More Than A Hospice appeal, helping ensure every family gets the care and support they need, wherever they are.

We’re so proud of you both.

Thank you for going above and beyond...literally in every way! 🪂

From one family’s love to a legacy of care spanning decades 💛

Huge congratulations to one of our founder parent pioneers, Jack Blaik OBE, on receiving the Pride of Scotland Lifetime Achievement Award last night!

Together with his late wife Nancy, the campaigning couple helped create Rachel House, a much-needed facility in Scotland that could offer palliative care services to children like their late son, Daniel.

Today, that legacy lives on in every moment of care we provide - at home, in hospital and in our hospices. And we're still so grateful to have the wonderful Jack as part of our story.

Congratulations, Jack - and thank you for what you have helped make possible for children and families across Scotland. ⭐

We're continuing Volunteers' Week by shining a light on the lovely Holly who joined us earlier in the year as part of a university placement!

She's been a brilliant addition to our fundraising and events team, supporting on everything from day-to-day tasks, researching, attending events and more.

As you can hear for yourself here, it sounds as though Holly has been enjoying her time with us as much as we've enjoyed having her.

Thank you, Holly! ⭐🤝

Have you ever shopped on our eBay? 🛍️

Well, chances are, the person you have been dealing with is incredible long-standing CHAS volunteer Lee-Ann Miller.

The Dalgety Bay mum started volunteering as has a family member who works for CHAS and now looks after our online shopping channel – raising an incredible £150,000 in doing so.

She said: “I love doing what I do and didn’t expect to still be doing it this far down the line. It’s brilliant fun – my family laugh that I can usually be found sitting in a pile of stuff listing it for eBay. I really enjoy it and get everyone involved. It’s amazing to see where items end up, I regularly send things all over the world. Every single day there’s something new going on and I am delighted to be part of it.”

Thank you to Lee-Ann for all you do - you're amazing! ⭐

As part of Volunteers’ Week, we’re shining the spotlight on the difference incredible volunteers make in every corner of CHAS.

Say hello to Alex, who has been with us at Robin House since it opened its doors 21-years-ago.

From driving the mini bus, being resident football expert, the support squad at the Kiltwalk and befriending a very special jolly man at Christmas (and other times), he’s integral to our team.

We’re so lucky to have Alex and such an incredible volunteer force who go above and beyond for CHAS, day in, day out. ⭐️

It’s now over a month since we launched our More Than A Hospice appeal and we are delighted to see that people across Scotland are making their mark.

From communities coming together, supporters taking on challenges, corporate partners pledging their support and every fundraising effort in-between, every single penny donated is going towards transforming children's palliative care across Scotland.

By pledging your support, it means families can choose care at home, in hospital, or in hospice, and they never need to face that journey alone.

From all of us, thank you for your support so far. 💛

In the run up to the Scottish Parliament elections, we invited representatives from across political parties to visit CHAS and learn more about the support we provide to children and families.

Our families, staff and volunteers shared their experiences of children’s palliative care and the difference it makes every day, as well as the barriers some families face and what could help improve access to whole-family support.

We look forward to continuing to work with all parties going forward to ensure families have greater choice, earlier support, and equitable access to the palliative care they need.

Taking it back to where it all started...

Today we're reflecting on when HRH Princess Anne officially opened Rachel House. It was in this moment it was declared more than just a building: but a home from home for children and families when they need it most. 🤝

So much has changed since this day - in the last ten years alone, the number of children living with life shortening conditions has risen by 40%.

With your support, our More Than A Hospice Appeal will not only transform Rachel House into a world-class, flexible, and welcoming space that meets the most complex needs of today's families; but it will also renew Robin House and reimagine our services by expanding our reach so every family in Scotland has real choice.

This is what More Than A Hospice is all about. 💛
