Amnesty International stands with everyone who has experienced racist and Islamophobic hatred and violence in recent incidents across Scotland.

These incidents have not taken place in a vacuum. We must reject and resist the racist and Islamophobic tropes and narratives that are becoming ever-more visible in our public discourse, including from some politicians in Scotland.

And we must reject the use of language that scapegoats entire groups of people and pits the rights of some communities against others.

We simply cannot allow the normalisation of this kind of deeply cynical and hateful politics.

Ahead of next Thursday’s election, do you want to know where Scotland’s political parties stand on human rights?

We have reviewed the manifestos of the SNP, Conservatives, Labour, Greens, Liberal Democrats and Reform to see where each party stands in relation to the ten asks set out in Amnesty’s 2026 Human Rights Manifesto. Read via the link in our bio.

Please note Amnesty International is independent of any and all political parties, and the analysis is for information purposes only; it is not intended to endorse any party or candidate.

Palantir is a US software company linked to a range of human rights abuses, including genocide.

In January 2024, Palantir signed a contract with the Israeli military to use its technology in support of “war-related missions.”

Right now, Palantir is working at the heart of the NHS in England. We cannot allow that to happen in Scotland. That’s why we have today written to all of Scotland’s party leaders ahead of the Scottish election, calling on them to categorically rule out any involvement of Palantir in Scotland’s NHS.

No company profiting from human rights abuses has any place in Scotland’s NHS or wider public sector.
