WE'RE PLEASED TO TELL YOU WE HAVE FOUND A HOME FOR THIS CAT.
- Derby and District Branch of Cats Protection is seeking a suitable property such as a farm, riding stables or smallholding in which to rehome an unwanted feral cat, ie a cat not deemed to be a ‘lap cat’. He is living outdoors at the moment but really needs a new base.
In the first instance, the new owners would need to supply him with a safe, secure outhouse/shed/stable where he can be contained for about two weeks, with regular meals, a comfortable, warm bed and a litter tray or two. After this two week period indoors to get used to his new surroundings, he can then be released. He will return only to the outhouse/shed for his food and shelter and would then repay his new owners as a fit and healthy vermin controller.
The Branch will pay for him to be neutered, deflea’d and wormed prior to adoption. Ultimately the new owners would be responsible for the cost of his food.
Feral cats are exceptionally efficient when it comes to controlling pests and often just their presence alone is enough to keep rats and mice away. The Branch volunteers would initially settle him into his new home.
