Headway Derby Support and rehabilitation services for people with brain injury, their families and carers

As an organisation we work closely with professionals from the NHS Head Injury Team based at Florence Nightingale Hospital, GP’s, Adult Social Care and Derby City Council, as well as with individuals and families. Our professional and experienced team are always on hand to offer advice and non-clinical rehabilitation and development to help improve life after brain injury. We aim to provide practi

cal development services to help local people come to terms with life after brain injury. This support extends to a variety of social and developmental activities and training for those who want to know more about brain injury and its affects. We are affiliated to, but separate from the national brain injury association - Headway UK.

To celebrate, we are continuing to shine a spotlight on some of our amazing volunteers 💙 Last up…. Christine!

We asked Christine a few questions so you can get to know her a little better ⬇️

Q: What is your history with Headway Derby?
A: I joined headway as a member in 2017 after my 2nd brain operation. I then became a volunteer in December 2024.

Q: What is your favourite part of volunteering?
A: My favourite part of volunteering is seeing the growth the members gain from attending the sessions.

Q: What would you say to someone thinking about volunteering for Headway Derby?
A: Volunteering for Headway is hugely rewarding, it's such a welcoming place and the kindness and support is great.

Christine has come such a long way during her journey at Headway Derby, and we could not be prouder! - thank you so much for all you do! ✨

We would also like to give a huge shoutout to ALL of our volunteers who work tirelessly to support the work that we do; Headway Derby would not be what it is without you all! 💜💙
