1st Mickleover Rainbows had a busy half term. We did some science experiments, including what are the shoes with the best grip, and balancing robots.
October is Bat month so we learnt about and made bats to hang up at home. We tried salt painting and it worked really well and they all made plaited friendship bracelets. We were really thrilled that they all tried so hard as it was a new skill for most of the girls!
We ended the half term with party games and cake to celebrate Ida's 7th Birthday and Eleanor's 30th. It was a surprise for both of them.

⏰ Clocks go back tonight, which means we gain an extra hour... and suddenly our "just one hour a week" volunteering with Girlguiding doubles to two hours. That's how maths works, right? 🤔😂

📢 Derby Guide Shop Update 📢

A huge thank you to all the customers who have supported the local volunteer-run Derby Guide Shop over the last two months since they reopened in Hilton. Your support is greatly appreciated! 💙

Jill and Nic are taking a well-deserved break over the half-term holiday and will be back trading again on Wednesday 4th November.

They are pleased to share that they now have a good stock of young members' uniform and are also beginning to build up their stock of adult uniform. They have a range of sizes available for members to try on and can place additional orders where needed.

Please be aware that they are currently a little restricted by the stock being supplied by Trading, but they will continue to do their very best to meet everyone's uniform needs.

Thank you again for your continued support, and they look forward to welcoming customers back to the shop soon. 🌈💙

🌟 Happy 60th Anniversary to Sangam World Centre ! 🌟

Based in Pune, India, Sangam is one of the WAGGGS World Centres, welcoming Guides and Girl Scouts from across the globe to connect, learn, volunteer and create lifelong friendships through the international spirit of Guiding.

The celebration is a wonderful reminder of the amazing opportunities Girlguiding offers. From travelling the world and experiencing different cultures to developing confidence, leadership skills and international friendships, Guiding truly opens doors to unforgettable adventures.

We're delighted that Ellie, a leader from Etwall, was able to be part of the celebrations and help mark this special milestone along with other inspire members she met at Pax Lodge in London last year.

Yesterday, on World Mental Health Day, we were reminded of the importance of supporting one another, building confidence, and creating spaces where young people can thrive.

Today, on the International Day of the Girl, we're celebrating the power, potential, and achievements of girls everywhere.

What better way to mark these two important days than reflecting on two incredible Girlguiding Big Gig events yesterday.

Filled with energy, friendship, laughter, and unforgettable memories, they showcased exactly what Girlguiding is all about: empowering girls, building resilience, and helping them know they can do anything.
