REVISED SERVICE OPT OUT DATE:

Universal Services for Carers is funded by Derby City Council, which has legal duties under the Care Act 2014 to assess and support unpaid adult carers. We provide the service on the council’s behalf.
The Council has appointed a new organisation to run the service (Derbyshire Carers Association), and we may need to securely share some of your information with the new provider so that your support can continue safely and without unnecessary disruption. This may include contact details, notes about your caring role, support plans and, where relevant, information about your health or wellbeing.
We do this because it is necessary for the council to carry out its public duties towards unpaid carers and to provide you with care and support. Our legal basis for using and sharing your personal information is:
“Public task” – performing a task in the public interest or under the council’s official authority (Article 6(1)(e) UK GDPR), and in some cases “legal obligation” (Article 6(1)(c)).
Where we need to use information about your health, disability or other sensitive details, we rely on:
“Health or social care” purposes – providing and managing care and support services (Article 9(2)(h) UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018 Schedule 1).
We will only share the minimum information needed, we will share it securely, and the new provider must keep it safe and confidential and only use it to continue your support.
If you do not want your information transferred and would prefer your support to end:
Please email [email protected] to let us know by Friday 20 March 2026
Your case will be closed on 31 March 2026

If we do not hear from you, your records will be securely shared with the new provider so they can continue supporting you without interruption.
