Important announcement!

First of all, thanks for all your support and love – and no – this announcement isn’t bad news!

Due to the workload and time constraints from running both the newspaper, Derby Heritage Centre, Artisans Uncovered and various other events, we’ve decided it would make a lot more sense if we solidified our social media with one account on Facebook and one account on Instagram instead of the four accounts we have at the minute – 2 x Derby Uncovered accounts and 2 x Derby Heritage Centre accounts.

The two remaining accounts will now contain lots of the history and heritage that you love and that we are known for posting, as well as keeping you up to date with what’s on offer at the Derby Heritage Centre and all the latest news on our walks, talks and events.

We will be using the Derby Uncovered accounts for this so if you don’t follow them then pop over to them now and give them a follow. The accounts are:

www.facebook.com/derbyuncovered
www.instagram.com/derbyuncovered

Look forward to seeing you over there!

Many thanks,

Derby Uncovered

Whenever we post old paintings of Derby on our Derby Uncovered page it’s clear just how much love there is out there for them.

If you’re one of the people who love them then these coasters are perfect for you.

We’ve got a choice of six views – each of them full of nostalgia – and at £4 each they’re a great buy for all Derby lovers.

What’s more if you buy three, we’ll sharpen our pencil and reduce the cost to £10!

Best. Jam. Ever.

To be fair all the jams and chutneys we’ve got in from Apple Paddock Artisan Preserves are amazing, but this is a personal favourite.

Try using some as an alternative to salsa for jazzing up your nachos or serve a spoonful alongside your cheesy omelette.

Alternatively eat it straight from the jar as I've been known to do!

It's available now to buy in the Derby Heritage Centre at No.11 Sadler Gate so why not pop along and come see us!

Are you aware that amongst the many incredible and beautiful offerings we have at the Derby Heritage Centre we also sell original artwork.

The incredible artworks you see in today’s image come from the incredibly talented – and Derby-based – Tom Burley.

Tom has created many wonderful views of Derby, and we are honoured to play host to them.

What’s more the work you see – and even more that you can see if you pay us a visit – are available for only £50 each.

What more can you ask for than beautiful, local, and competitively priced?

Come along and visit us at 11 Sadler Gate – we’re shopping local to make it easier for you to do the same.

Hopefully this afternoon sees Derby County get one step closer to promotion to the Championship or even clinching it - and with thoughts still focused on the football we’ve got an incredible offer on at the Derby Heritage Centre for today only.

All our Derby County books have 25% off their retail price.

The offer ends at 5pm today so make sure you don’t miss out and if you know a Rams fan that you’ll be buying a present for soon then plan ahead and snag one of these while you can.

We thought we’d ‘ram’ home a new addition to the Derby Heritage Centre range today – these wonderful Derby Ram Tote Bags.

Part of a collection from Jennifer Collinson – a severely sight-impaired artist from Derby - that includes greetings cards, keyrings, and framed pictures (which you can see peeking out in the back of the photograph) these wonderful creations are 100% exclusive to the Derby Heritage Centre meaning you can’t buy them anywhere else in the world!

They’re one of the many wonderful – and locally sourced – offerings that we have available so if you’re looking for something different and unique then ditch Amazon, visit us at 11 Sadler Gate, and show a loved one or yourself that you truly care.

Life’s often about choices and one of the choices you have is what you buy and where you buy it from.

The choice you make at that point has a ripple effect further down the line in various ways, so we thought we’d tell you about some of the ripples you can create if you shop from us.

We stock an extensive range of giftware, and we source that from Derby and Derbyshire creators. If the gift you buy – either for a loved one or yourself – was made by a Derby or Derbyshire creator, then you have:

One – you’ve genuinely shopped local. The money you’ve spent goes to both the local creative and your local Derby Heritage Centre.

Two – you’ve reduced your carbon footprint. This gift didn’t travel far to make it to our counter.

Three – helped with the revitalisation of a formerly empty city-centre property. This building would still be empty if we – Derby Uncovered CIC – hadn’t opened a new Derby Heritage Centre and your purchases help keep it open.

Four – you’ve supported a local business who cares about Derby as opposed to a multi-national who doesn’t.

Five – gained a gift that is far more beautiful and lovingly crafted than most other gifts you can buy.

We’re at 11 Sadler Gate – come along and make some ripples.

It’s the weekend!!

To start it off we’ve got five things that you might not know about us.

One – we open early. If you’re the type who likes to get their trip into town over before it gets busy, then you can find us open from 8am!

Two – we’re a not-for-profit organisation. There are no dividends paid here – every penny we make is reinvested back into our Community Interest Company.

Three - We shop local. We use Derby and Derbyshire creators to source the wonderful offerings you can buy here and Derby and Derbyshire companies for the groceries.

Four – We’re a small company. There’s only two of us who work full time. That would be myself (David) and Steve. Between the two of us we organise and run the Heritage Centre, put out a bi-monthly newspaper and organise the Artisans Uncovered events as well as various other special events.

Five – We’re based in a building that was a Coaching Office in the late 1700s. It’s supposed to be haunted and various people have claimed to have sighted a ghost here – one of the sightings was since we’ve moved in. I haven’t seen anything yet but if you ever spot me running down Sadler Gate screaming then I probably have!
