Roundabout project starting in Woodstock

Roundabout construction is taking place at the intersection of Route 2 and Route 136 in Woodstock.

This project is intended to improve both safety and traffic flow at the intersection.

Dates:
June 15, with work expected to last approximately eight weeks.

Traffic:
Two-way, one-lane, stop-and-go traffic will be in effect at times.

Traffic may also be re-routed onto temporary roads through the worksite. Delays can be expected.

Safety:
• Plan ahead to reach your destination on time.
• Reduce speed in the area.
• Obey flaggers and signs.
• Remember, speeding and using your phone while driving, even when you’re waiting in traffic, are against the law.

Route 1 improvements underway between New Haven and Bonshaw

Asphalt resurfacing will take place on Route 1 between New Haven and Bonshaw to improve road surface quality and drainage.

Work will occur in two sections:
• The first section begins at Eric Cross Road and extends west for approximately 1.6 km in the eastbound through lane.

• The second section starts about 100 metres west of Riverdale Road and continues west for approximately 2.2 km in the westbound through lane.

Dates:
June 15, with work expecting to last up to two days.

Traffic:
Two-way traffic will be maintained in areas with multiple lanes. In single-lane areas, traffic will be reduced to one lane with alternating stop-and-go flow.

Delays are expected.

Safety:
• Plan ahead to reach your destination on time.
• Reduce speed in the area.
• Obey flaggers and signs.
• Remember, speeding and using your phone while driving, even when you’re waiting in traffic, are against the law.

Intersection upgrades at Mount Edward Road to begin

Motorists are advised that crews will be carrying out upgrades at the intersection of Route 1 (Trans-Canada Highway) and Mount Edward Road in Charlottetown.

Dates:
June 15, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Work is expected to take one week to complete.

Traffic:
Stop-and-go traffic will be in place.

Safety:
• Plan ahead to reach your destination on time.
• Reduce speed in the area.
• Obey flaggers and signs.
• Remember, speeding and using your phone while driving, even when you’re waiting in traffic, are against the law.

Infrastructure work to impact Riverside Drive traffic

Drivers can expect some traffic impacts on Riverside Drive in Charlottetown due to upcoming work related to the PEI Energy from Waste Renewal and Expansion project.

The work involves installing new connections to the city’s sanitary sewer and water systems.

The affected area will be along Riverside Drive between the Walker Drive roundabout and Murchison Lane.

Date:
June 5 (daytime): 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
June 8 (daytime): 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
June 9 (nighttime): 6 p.m. to 7 a.m.
June 10 (daytime): 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Traffic:
To minimize disruption, a single-lane closure will be in effect for westbound traffic only during the scheduled working times. No lane closures will occur during peak traffic periods.

Motorists are encouraged to use caution in the area, follow posted signage, and allow extra travel time. Please note that the schedule may change due to weather or other factors.

Safety:
Reduce speed in the area.
Remember, speeding and using your phone while driving, even when you’re waiting in traffic, are against the law.

Springfield bridge work continues on Route 2

Motorists are advised that work on the Springfield Bridge replacement project on Route 2 will include roadwork, installation of new guardrail, and site clean-up.

Dates:
June 1, with work expected to be completed by June 10.

Traffic:
One-lane, two-way traffic configuration with personnel directing vehicles.
