Kensington Road Closure – Beginning Oct. 6

Location: Kensington Road between Beasley Avenue and Exhibition Drive

Duration: Beginning Tuesday, Oct. 6, until approximately Friday, Oct. 16

Traffic Impacts: Kensington Road between Beasley Avenue and Exhibition Drive will be closed to traffic. Traffic control personnel and detour signage will be in place. Access to Exhibition Drive will be maintained for southbound traffic.

Motorists are advised to use alternate routes.

Details: Crews will be installing a sanitary sewer connection.

Infrastructure work to impact Riverside Drive traffic

Drivers can expect traffic delays on Riverside Drive in Charlottetown due to work related to the PEI Energy from Waste Renewal and Expansion project.

This work involves installing new connections to the city’s sanitary sewer and water systems.

The affected area will be along Riverside Drive, between the Walker Drive roundabout and Murchison Lane.

Dates:
August 24 to August 26 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Traffic:
A single-lane closure will be in effect for west bound traffic (towards East Royalty) only during the scheduled working times.

No lane closures will occur during peak traffic periods.

Motorists are encouraged to use caution in the area, follow posted signage, and allow extra travel time.

Please note that the schedule may change due to weather or other factors.

Safety:
• Remember, speeding and using your phone while driving, even when you’re waiting in traffic, are against the law.

Cornwall Road closed during Just Live Fun Run

Motorists are advised that the Cornwall Road in Cornwall will be closed to through traffic during the Just Live Fun Run.

The Trans-Canada Highway off-ramps to Cornwall Road will also be closed during the event.

In addition, Route 235 between Cornwall Road and Jewell Road will be reduced to a single lane, with two-way stop-and-go traffic in effect.


Dates:
August 23, from 6:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m

Traffic:
Motorists should expect delays, follow posted signage, and use caution when travelling in the area.

Safety:
• Plan ahead to reach your destination on time.
• Remember, speeding and using your phone while driving, even when you’re waiting in traffic, are against the law.

It is with great sadness we share the news of Honourary Life Member Gloria Chapman passing away this past Sunday, August 9, 2026.

Our deepest condolences to Craig, Jeff, Jason, Jamie and their familes.


It is with sadness, the family of Gloria Helen Chapman (nee MacDonald), announce her passing, which occurred peacefully at the Colville Manor, Souris, on Sunday, August 9, 2026. Born on April 16, 1944, she was in her 83rd year. Gloria is predeceased by her beloved husband, Cyril Chapman, and will be remembered as a loving mother to Craig (Rachel), Jeff (Cherie), Jason (Marise), and Jamie (Tracy). She was also a special grandmother to Jessica (Devan), Danika, Drew, Tori Jayne, Rebecca, Alex, Daniel, Renée, Marc, Jalyn, Marybeth, Sarah, Bryce, her great-grandsons Turner and Oliver as well as great-granddaughter Annie. She will be deeply missed by her sibling Ronalda, along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. Predeceased by her parents Leo and Helen MacDonald. Also by her brothers Charles, Wilbur, Marcelus, Ignatius, Ronald, Joseph and her sisters Augusta and Gloria Claire. Gloria started her career as a teacher at Fort Augustus and Rollo Bay Schools before transitioning to working alongside her husband in Chapman bros. until her retirement in 2013. She maintained a love of sports and was an avid Softball Pitcher and Broomplayer. Later she loved the hours watching her children and grandchildren playing various sporting activities. Her competitive spirit lives on in her family. She was involved in community organizations such as CWL, and 4 H. We would like to thank the staff at Colville Manor for their outstanding kindness, care and compassion during Gloria's tenure as a resident. Resting at Dingwell Funeral Home, where visiting hours will take place on Thursday, August 13, 2026, from 5:00pm-7:00pm. A funeral mass will be held at the St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Souris on Friday, August 14, 2026, at 11:00am. The interment will follow in the church cemetery. If so desired, donations in memory of Gloria can be made to the Eastern Kings Health Foundation.
