This Mother’s Day, we’re reflecting on a powerful story that helped shape education in Canada.

In the 1960s, families in Saint-Lambert, Quebec played a key role in pioneering French Immersion. Groups of parents began organizing locally to advocate for expanded French learning opportunities. Many were mothers. Their legacy is CPF's history.

These grassroots parent groups united to form Canadian Parents for French as a national organization dedicated to supporting and promoting French-second-language education across Canada. This reminds us that community-driven advocacy can lead to lasting, system-level change. 💐

Canadian Parents for French was pleased to meet with The Honourable Marc Miller, P.C., M.P, Minister of Canadian Culture & Identity and Minister responsible for Official Languages, to discuss the future of bilingualism in Canada.

We thank Minister Miller for his time and for hearing CPF’s message: Building Beyond the current 18% and setting a target to reach 20% bilingualism by 2036 — ensuring more young Canadians have the opportunity to learn, live, and thrive in both official languages.
