☀️ TOMORROW'S THE DAY! Camp starts Monday! ☀️

We can't wait to welcome our very first campers to The Nest for Islander Week! 🏝️ Here's what families need to know (if you have already registered, we have also sent you this via email):

⏰ Drop-off: 8:30–9:30am · Pick-up: by 4:30pm
Main activities run 9:30am–3:30pm, so kiddos won't miss a thing if they arrive later or leave earlier!

🎒 What to pack: lunch, two snacks & a water bottle (labelled!), a change of clothes, indoor shoes, a hat — and your preferred sunscreen/bug spray labelled with your kiddo's name. Please apply a first layer before drop-off!

📍 Finding us: 95 Capital Drive — the bright green building! We're on the side, sharing an outside door with REPEATS. Look for the giant yellow sign and the pinwheels! 🎡 Parking is free and plentiful.

📞 Madame Abbey will be on site or in contact all day: 902-218-2209

🏝️ This week at camp:
🎻 Monday — Fiddle demonstration!
🌿 Tuesday — Nature Explorers day
🥾 Wednesday — Step dance lesson from a professional step dancer!
📚 Thursday — A visit from the library
🍦 Friday — We're making ice cream!

Nous avons tellement hâte d'accueillir nos tout premiers campeurs au Nest pour la Semaine insulaire ! 🏝️ Voici ce que les familles doivent savoir :

⏰ Arrivée : 8 h 30 à 9 h 30 · Départ : 16 h 30 au plus t**d
Les activités principales se déroulent de 9 h 30 à 15 h 30 — les enfants ne manqueront rien s'ils arrivent plus t**d ou partent plus tôt !

🎒 Quoi apporter : un dîner, deux collations et une bouteille d'eau (identifiés !), des vêtements de rechange, des chaussures d'intérieur, un chapeau — et votre crème solaire/chasse-moustiques préféré identifié au nom de votre enfant. Veuillez appliquer une première couche avant l'arrivée !

📍 Comment nous trouver : 95 Capital Drive — le bâtiment vert vif ! Nous sommes sur le côté, avec une porte extérieure partagée avec REPEATS. Cherchez la grande affiche jaune et les moulinets à vent ! 🎡 Stationnement gratuit et abondant.

📢 A milestone for official bilingualism in Canada!

Last month, the Standing Senate Committee on Official Languages released a report that validates what Canadian Parents for French (CPF) has been advocating for years: the federal government's commitment to fostering the full recognition and use of both English and French across Canadian society has too often been overlooked.

While on a recent family visit, our Director of Advocacy & Public Policy, Ahdithya Visweswaran, happened to stumble upon the Senate's public display showcasing this landmark document, "Making Substantive Equality a Reality." We couldn't resist capturing the moment!

While protecting minority language rights is vital, true substantive equality also means ensuring that official bilingualism is a lived, accessible reality for all Canadians. CPF is proud to be at the forefront of getting this gap recognized—a critical first step toward broader, systemic gains.

📢 Une étape importante pour la dualité linguistique au Canada!

Le mois dernier, le Comité sénatorial permanent des langues officielles a publié un rapport qui confirme ce que Canadian Parents for French (CPF) défend depuis des années : l'engagement du gouvernement fédéral à favoriser la pleine reconnaissance et l'usage du français et de l'anglais dans la société canadienne a trop souvent été négligé.

Lors d'une récente visite en famille, notre directeur de la défense des intérêts et des politiques publiques, Ahdithya Visweswaran, est tombé par hasard sur une exposition publique du Sénat mettant en valeur ce rapport marquant, *Vers une égalité réelle : Pour un règlement ambitieux, robuste et complet sur la partie VII*. Impossible de résister à l'envie d'immortaliser ce moment!

Bien que la protection des droits des communautés de langue officielle en situation minoritaire soit essentielle, une véritable égalité réelle signifie également que la dualité linguistique soit une réalité vécue et accessible pour l'ensemble de la population canadienne. Canadian Parents for French (CPF) est fier d'avoir contribué à faire reconnaître cette lacune — une première étape essentielle vers des changements systémiques durables.
