This week, Councillor Tweel tried to ensure that residents โ and all of council โ could review the independent Fire Underwriters Survey report, in totality, that evaluates our communityโs fire protection and helps determine insurance risk.โฃ
โฃ
We appreciate his effort to bring this into the open and we strongly support the principle behind it:โฃ

โฃ
Across Canada, municipalities release this information so families and businesses can understand how well their fire protection system is keeping pace with community growth.โฃ
โฃ
Right now, the only information shared has been behind closed doors. That approach raises fair questions about when the full report will be available and why the entire independent assessment has not been presented openly.โฃ
โฃ
This report was paid for by Charlottetown, about Charlottetown โ it should not be controlled or withheld by the Fire Chief. It belongs to the public.โฃ
โฃ
We believe Charlottetown residents deserve:โฃ
โฃ
1๏ธโฃ The complete Fire Underwriters Survey reportโฃ
2๏ธโฃ A clear timeline for its public releaseโฃ
3๏ธโฃ An honest conversation about what improvements are needed to protect our growing cityโฃ
โฃ
We are confident that, with informed decisions and transparency, Charlottetown can catch up to other comparable cities and work toward providing its citizens the service they deserve.โฃ
โฃ
We encourage all community members to stay engaged and make your voice heard. Charlottetown deserves safety, accountability, and openness.โฃ
โฃ
Our city is growing โ our readiness must grow with it. โฃ
