It’s National Volunteer Week, and we’re celebrating the incredible people who make such a difference at HepatitisWA 💙

We’re so grateful for our mighty team of volunteers who generously give their time, energy and kindness to support our work and community.

Here we have one of our amazing volunteers, Trevor, helping us get ready for our National Volunteer Week celebrations 🎉

We can’t wait to celebrate all of our volunteers and thank them for their amazing work and good deeds!

Last week, Ali and Bianca landed in Geraldton for a big week of community engagement, education, and collaboration 💙

Some highlights from the week included:
📍 Chatting about liver health and viral hepatitis at Rocks Laneway on Marine Terrace
📍 Meeting with GPs and nurses at Bluff Point Medical Centre to discuss routine hepatitis B testing and referral pathways as part of the “Hep B – Get Tested” campaign
📍 Delivering education sessions with the nursing staff at Greenough Regional Prison
📍 Presenting to three practices from Panaceum Medical Group during a hepatitis B campaign lunch session at Seacrest

A huge thank you to everyone who took the time to connect, learn, and support better hepatitis B awareness and care across the Midwest 🙌

Hepatitis B is the most common blood borne virus in the world. It affects the liver.

Many people with hepatitis B don’t feel sick, but if it is not managed, it can cause liver damage and/or liver cancer.

A simple blood test helps prevent liver disease or liver cancer.

Hepatitis B tests are not part of normal blood tests. You have to ask your doctor for a hepatitis B blood test. Your results are private.

Last week our wonderful nurse Jess attended the National Hepatitis C Nurse Summit in Sydney.

Jess was able to get up to date with so many important topics: nurse prescribing, peer-nurse relationships, treating acute Hep C, caring for the carer and innovative nurse-led models.

A big thank you from Jess, she really enjoyed the day!

We had a great visit to Pharmacy 777 Mandurah this week, who are proudly collaborating in the “New You” Hep C campaign 🙌

We were able to deliver outreach PoCT (Point-of-Care Testing) and same-day treatment clinics. Together we’re helping make hepatitis C care easier and more accessible for the community.

Because getting tested and treated shouldn’t be complicated 💙
