Watching our students perform last weekend, we felt such pride. We also thought of everything the audience could not see.

The child who once walked into class knowing nothing of the art form. The movement that would not come. The rhythm that kept slipping away. The moments of frustration, and the decision to come back the following week and try again.

That is where we see the strength of a student. In the willingness to fall short, to accept correction and to begin again. It takes months, often years, before that work can be carried onto a stage. Yesterday, we saw what their perseverance had made possible.

And beside each student is a teacher who knows that journey intimately. A teacher who can see the effort behind a small improvement, who stays when a student loses heart, who offers guidance and a place to land when they fall. Then comes the difficult moment of letting go, allowing the student to step onto the stage, stand on their own and learn from whatever happens there.

But one performance is only one moment. Now they begin again. They take what they have learned, look honestly at what can be better and return to the practice, again and again and again. That striving for excellence reaches beyond the art form. It changes how the mind meets difficulty, how it learns to focus, and how it grows.

To all the teachers of Saraswati Mahavidhyalaya who have given their time, strength and skill so generously: thank you. You do this without seeking rewards of any kind. Your reward is seeing a student grow, improve and discover what they are capable of. You are helping to build discipline, resilience and character. You are opening a door into the magical world of the arts, where students can discover a deeper awareness of themselves and others.

The performance ends. The learning stays.

Circle of Grace: When Many Voices Became One

Last weekend, Saraswati Mahavidhyalaya presented Circle of Grace, a choir performance that truly lived up to its name. It was more than a concert. It was a gathering of generations, friendships and hearts.

On stage were children as young as five or six, singing alongside adults in their fifties and sixties. They came from different generations and musical backgrounds, yet were united by one simple joy: the love of singing together.

One of the most touching moments came from the youngest children, who sang the entire Hanuman Chalisa from memory, without a single page before them. Their concentration, confidence and sheer delight were unforgettable. The joy on their faces was mirrored by every singer around them.

Many of the songs were compositions associated with Swami Shantanand Saraswati. Familiar melodies seemed to breathe anew as individual voices came together to create something larger than themselves.

What the audience witnessed on stage was beautiful, but what they could not see were the countless hours behind it: rehearsal after rehearsal, patient correction, shared laughter, growing friendships and the quiet discipline of learning to listen to one another. A choir does not become one simply by singing the same song. It becomes one when every voice learns to support, respond to and make space for the others.

That was the true grace of the evening.

Circle of Grace reminded us of what can happen when homegrown talent is nurtured with love, commitment and a shared sense of purpose. It showed us that music can gather people across generations, deepen the bonds of community and transform many different voices into one living, breathing whole.

May this be only the beginning. May the choir continue to grow, and may its circle of grace widen ever further.

SMV Presents Nritya MaƱjarÄ« ā€“ Blossoming Cluster of Dances

Like a garland in which many flowers come together, Nritya MaƱjarī brings dancers, traditions and artistic expressions into one vibrant celebration.

Presented by Saraswati Mahavidhyalaya, this day of dance showcases the dedication of our students and teachers as they take to the stage to share their learning with family, friends and the wider community.

Across three sessions, audiences will experience a blossoming cluster of performances, with each dance offering its own colour, rhythm and expression. Together, they form a beautiful collective offering, a celebration of growth and the joy of dance.

Join us for a day filled with movement, music and community as we celebrate the many flowers that come together to create Nritya MaƱjarī.
