RSL WA Enabling WA veterans and their families to thrive in the community. Your support can help WA veterans and their families to thrive.

RSLWA is one of Australia’s most renowned charities with established community groups and programs that enable veterans and their families to thrive. We provide experienced Advocates who help veterans lodge DVA compensation claims to access treatment and live fuller lives, employment services to guide their transition into meaningful work, and welfare support for those few experiencing hardship. We host regular commemorative events including ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day and engage the veteran community through 112 Sub-Branch locations around Western Australia. In 2023, RSLWA lodged 2,706 DVA compensation claims on behalf of veterans for injury and illness sustained during service. We delivered life-changing welfare support to 88 veterans and their families including financial aid of over $52,000. In 2023, we also partnered with Working Spirit to guide over 100 veterans into new employment, but every year roughly 6,500 veterans leave defence. 2 Delivering advocacy, employment, welfare, and other support services is an ongoing task that makes a massive difference to the well-being of our veterans. We're officially open!! The Goldsworthy Veterans and Families Centre is now open in Rockingham, bringing specialised support closer to home for all veterans and families in the region.

The Centre has been designed with veterans and families in mind, and wherever you are on your journey, you'll be welcomed. Our team will take the time to listen, and with a range of specialist providers working from the Centre, we'll connect you with the right support. So come in, sip on a coffee and simply be yourself among people who understand.

We invite you to pop in to see the centre for yourself! Open Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4pm at 1/65 Dixon Road.

Today, 11 October 2026, marks 25 years since the beginning of Australia's military commitment to Afghanistan under Operation Slipper.

RSL WA honours the more than 35,000 Australian Defence Force personnel who served in Afghanistan and the wider Middle East in support of the conflict, alongside the families and loved ones who stood behind them.

We remember all Australian service personnel who served in Afghanistan, those who made the ultimate sacrifice, and those who continue to live with the physical and psychological impacts of their service. We also acknowledge the families and loved ones whose lives were forever changed by the conflict.

Today, we pause to reflect, to remember, and to ensure their service and sacrifice are never forgotten.

We will remember them. Lest We Forget. 🌺

The wait is almost over! On Monday, 12 October, the doors to the Goldsworthy Veterans and Families Centre will officially open ✨

Located at 1/65 Dixon Road, Rockingham, the Centre has been created for current and former ADF members, their families and carers. It is a dedicated place to connect, find support and be part of a community that understands service.

Our opening hours are Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4pm with parking available at the front of the Centre on Dixon Road, or at the rear on Hurrell Way.

This morning Anzac House welcomed veterans, defence industry professionals, employers and supporters for the Welcome to the West Networking Breakfast, held on the first day of Land Forces 2026.

Hosted by RSL WA Workforce Connect in collaboration with Defence Industry Networking, the breakfast brought together people from across Australia and Western Australia's defence community to build new connections and strengthen existing ones.

Seventy-five years ago this October, members of the 3rd Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment fought one of the most significant actions of the Korean War near the Imjin River.

During six days of intense fighting from 3 to 8 October 1951, Australian soldiers undertook a series of company and platoon attacks against fortified positions on Hill 317, known as Maryang San.

Against a numerically superior force and under sustained artillery fire and repeated counterattacks, they secured strategically vital ground as part of the broader United Nations Operation Commando.

The battalion suffered 20 killed and 104 wounded. Many demonstrated extraordinary skill, endurance and courage under the most demanding conditions. Their tactical discipline and resolve under fire became hallmarks of Australian service during the Korean War.

This milestone offers an opportunity to reflect on the service of all Australians who served in Korea between 1950 and 1953, those who supported them, and the families who carried the weight of their absence and loss.

The Korean War shaped a generation and its legacy remains part of our national story of service.

RSL WA invites the Western Australian community to join us in commemorating the 25th Anniversary of Australian Service in Afghanistan on Saturday, 10 October.⁣
⁣
From 2001, more than 35,000 Australians served in Afghanistan and the Middle East Area of Operations to to bring security to Afghanistan, stabilise the wider region and counter terrorist activity.

Over more than two decades of commitment, Australians also contributed to reconstruction efforts, working to build safe conditions for democratic governance, mentoring and training local forces, and delivering humanitarian aid.

October's RSL Active program has plenty on offer, and it kicks the month off with something a little special.

Force in Motion, a high-energy 45-minute circuit-style training session delivered by RSL Active, Revive Physiology and 13 Brigade Physical Training Instructors, opens the month on Wednesday 7 October at Kings Park held as part of Land Forces. The first 20 registrations receive a goodie bag on arrival. 🙌

Alongside that, the full program of group fitness, sailing, skiffing, lawn bowls, yoga, water colour painting, and so much more continues throughout the month!
