The awards described below are now open. RAJWA does not nominate members for these awards because we celebrate all of your activities, not only those of particularly hardworking individuals. You are welcome to nominate yourself or others and we wish those who do so every success.

Notice:
The WA Volunteer Service Awards celebrate volunteers for their meaningful contributions to our local communities.

The 2026 WA Volunteer Service Awards are now open! Volunteers with five years or more voluntary service can be nominated (or self-nominate). Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Mr Ian Goyder JP, who passed away on Sunday. Ian was a JP of 45 years who gave so much to others. Along with other RAJWA roles, he helped to write JP tips for us for many years. This was his centenary year. His funeral may be held on January 28, but we will advise when this is confirmed.
Vale Ian.

We've had several emails from JPs who are concerned by the email from JP branch about the forthcoming inquiry. I explained it in the recent newsletter but not everyone seems to have read that. After discussing the received queries with Brian Dodds, we have decided to send a circular email of our own to explain our strategy in responding to the forthcoming inquiry. I will do this in the next hour or two to address and ease any concerns.

We've had an impressive response to the email sent out today to wish you all a great New Year and to promote your engagement with our online statistics function. Well done, and thanks.
It's interesting to see the number of you who are seeing people from home. Like me, most of you in this case live away from Perth. I admit that I did some certified copies at home over the weekend and another lot at 9am today, but that doesn't happen every day. Some of you however are doing much more than that. Thank you!

I'm getting the last newsletter of the year ready to go but so far have a blank cover. It would be nice to have a montage, so please feel welcome to email me in the next few days with photos that represent things like the season and end of year in your town or suburb. These can be picnic spots, town or suburb views, the beach, the farm, the old Holden ute, the weather or whatever you think and tell me why they are meaningful for you. I'll try and use as many as I can. I'm planning to send out the newsletter on Monday night or Tuesday.

Help wanted!
There is again a vacancy for a JP at the Citizen's Advice Bureau signing centre at 25 Barrack St, Perth. Contact Kathy McGregor for further information on 0419 919 320. This is a very busy signing centre, lots of experience to be gained for new JPs.

Emails about last year's AGM have accidentally gone out this morning when I inadvertently opened the old Outlook instead of the new while answering the 40+ emails in this morning, as is normal after sending out the journal. I will shortly send out a bulk email to apologise to those who have found the old emails perplexing.

When sending out AGM notices late at night in 2024, my internet failed. Mine is satellite, not through a land connection, and this sometimes drops out at the most inconvenient time. The next morning, I tried again but did so through the new outlook, which Microsoft seemed keen for me to do. I had no idea that about 500 old emails were hovering in space ever since, just waiting for a moment like this, and apologise for any confusion.
