Why throw it away when you can fix it for free?

We’re back this Sunday 2 August from 1pm until 3.30pm at The Link Ginninderry.

Bring along your broken items for repair and see how our friendly volunteers can help. Pictures below are from our last event showing a range of items fixed.

Swap your full Zero Waste Warrior Lids4Kids tub or purchase one for $29 per year.

Why not make a day of it with one of the local walks at Ginninderry, and a coffee and treat at Cafe Stepping Stone.

Thanks to our volunteers, Ginninderry Community, SEE-Change and for making these events possible.

SEE Change is bringing the repairers of Canberra together for a festival of fixing and making. Bring your broken things for our repairers to fix and spend some time getting in touch with your creative side.

Repair Cafe Ginninderry (July event)

Our next event is this Sunday 5 July at The Link. Feel free to join us with something to repair and our volunteers will work with you to see what we can achieve. It's tempting to purchase stuff in the mid year sales, but so much better for the environment and the wallet to fix and enjoy what we already own 😀

Thanks to our volunteers, SEE-Change, Ginninderry Community and Kippax Uniting Church for making these events possible.

And for the Southsiders, Tuggeranong Repair Cafe will be on this weekend as well 😀

The next Toolbox Repair Cafe is happening Saturday, June 27, between 2pm and 5pm (though if you come too late we won't have time to start the repair, so plan to be there by 4:30pm at the latest).

As always, we'll post a list of volunteer repairers in the week before the event - keep an eye on socials, and on the event listing here on Facebook.

Reminder: We're now in Dickson for Repair Cafe events, at 8 Hawdon Place (right next to Cafe Stepping Stone, and this might be a great weekend to come early for ☕️ and 🍰!)

We hope to see you there! 💚

HOW IT WORKS
Repair Cafés: Where volunteers fix your stuff - for free. You bring your broken or other not-working-properly item along; we match you with a volunteer repairer who can hopefully diagnose the problem, and complete the fix for you.

A full list of repairers is made available close to each date, and usually includes fabric mending (eg hemming, patching, darning), small electrical (eg lamps, kitchen appliances), knife sharpening, and general tinkering (eg gluing back small pieces). Sometimes we have more specialized help like phone and computer repair, 3D printing of small parts, and costume jewellery repair.

Repairs are free (occasionally you may have to bring or buy your own replacement part), and labour is donated out of kindness 💚 More info, including House Rules: https://www.communitytoolboxcbr.org/repair-cafe

Ours is just one of the repair cafés that take place in Canberra - find a full list here: https://seechange.org.au/repair-cafes

Have you got a skill that can be used to keep repairable items out of landfill? We have Repair Cafes across town that are seeking repairers and helpers.
Today's focus is on the Ginninderry Repair Cafe so if you live in the Belconnen area this could be the volunteering opportunity for you.

The Toolbox is coming to Belconnen, details below for tonight’s pick up 😀

The Toolbox is coming to Belconnen, details below for tonight’s pick up 😀

Belconnen! Tool Bus in da HOUSE, starting TONIGHT 🥳

That's right: Wednesday, May 6, 6:30pm - 7:30pm (reserve online by 5:30pm)

Meet us in the Westfield Belconnen carpark - we'll be in the ground floor part, facing Emu Bank, so use the Emu Bank/Luxton Street entrance, then turn RIGHT and you'll find us in the first covered section.

A reminder that dropping off items at the Tool Bus doesn't need prior arrangement, and you can return ANY Toolbox item to the bus - even if you originally picked it up at the main Watson location. The only exception is the kayaks - they don't fit in the bus.

Hooray!! See you TONIGHT, Belco!! 🤩
