Have you got a skill that can be used to keep repairable items out of landfill? We have Repair Cafes across town that are seeking repairers and helpers.
Today's focus is on the Ginninderry Repair Cafe so if you live in the Belconnen area this could be the volunteering opportunity for you.

Belconnen! Tool Bus in da HOUSE, starting TONIGHT 🥳

That's right: Wednesday, May 6, 6:30pm - 7:30pm (reserve online by 5:30pm)

Meet us in the Westfield Belconnen carpark - we'll be in the ground floor part, facing Emu Bank, so use the Emu Bank/Luxton Street entrance, then turn RIGHT and you'll find us in the first covered section.

A reminder that dropping off items at the Tool Bus doesn't need prior arrangement, and you can return ANY Toolbox item to the bus - even if you originally picked it up at the main Watson location. The only exception is the kayaks - they don't fit in the bus.

Hooray!! See you TONIGHT, Belco!! 🤩

Current stops:
WESTON (Saturdays, 10am - 11am; reserve online before 9am)
BELCONNEN (Wednesdays, 6:30pm - 7:30pm; reserve online before 5:30pm)

The first Toolbox Repair Cafe in our lovely new digs is happening THIS SATURDAY, March 28, between 2pm and 5pm (though if you come too late we won't have time to start the repair, so do plan to be there by 4:30pm at the latest).

We're now in Dickson for Repair Cafe events, in the Common Ground Hall, 8 Hawdon Place (right next to Cafe Stepping Stone. They close at 3:30pm though, so if you want to get a fabulous ☕️ and 🍰 , come early!)

HOW IT WORKS
Repair Cafés: Where volunteers fix your stuff - for free. You bring your broken or other not-working-properly item along; we match you with a volunteer repairer who can hopefully diagnose the problem, and complete the fix for you.

A full list of repairers is made available close to each date, and usually includes fabric mending (eg hemming, patching, darning), small electrical (eg lamps, kitchen appliances), knife sharpening, and general tinkering (eg gluing back small pieces). Sometimes we have more specialized help like phone and computer repair, 3D printing of small parts, and costume jewellery repair.

Repairs are free (occasionally you may have to bring or buy your own replacement part), and labour is donated out of kindness 💚 More info, including House Rules: https://www.communitytoolboxcbr.org/repair-cafe

Ours is just one of the repair cafés that take place in Canberra - find a full list here: https://seechange.org.au/repair-cafes
