Saddle Up, Charleville! 🤠

What a way to kick off our 2026 Outback Trail!

Back in April, Charleville Racecourse came alive with an incredible night of country music as Lee Kernaghan took to the stage alongside Tori Darke.

With a big western sky overhead, boots on the ground and Trail Travellers ready for the adventure ahead, it was the perfect way to begin our 1,400km journey through Outback Queensland.

And the good news? Saddle Up is here to stay!

We're proud to share that our three-year partnership with Murweh Shire Council has secured Saddle Up in Charleville through to 2029, bringing more live music, more visitors and more opportunities for the local community in the years ahead.

A huge thank you to Mayor Shaun Radnedge and Murweh Shire Council for helping us continue to bring this incredible event to life. 💛

As one of our 2026 Trail Ambassadors, Tori joined us on the road, sharing her incredible talent across Outback Queensland.

And we're excited to share that Tori will be joining us again as a Trail Ambassador for our 2027 Outback Trail!

QMF was pleased to present the 2026 Outback Trail - our biggest yet, bringing live music, visitors and communities together for an unforgettable journey from Charleville to Mount Isa.

And we're excited to do it all again!

Our 2027 Outback Trail is on the horizon and we can't wait to continue bringing music, visitors and new opportunities to regional Queensland.

🎤 BEATBOXING + MUSIC WORKSHOP IN DOOMADGEE 🎶

QMF is pleased to present a free community music workshop in Doomadgee, led by Taitu'uga Kitch Wesche and made possible through funding from Inspiring Australia Queensland.

A Samoan High Chief, respected beatboxer, MC, songwriter and cultural facilitator, Taitu'uga brings more than 20 years' experience working across music, culture and community. His work with young people throughout regional and remote Queensland uses music to build confidence, creativity, cultural pride and connection, values that sit at the heart of QMF's commitment.

Participants will explore beatboxing and loop machines, develop lyric-writing skills and create music together.
The workshop is open to all ages, and no prior experience is required.

📍 Doomadgee Youth & Music Studio
🥤 Light refreshments provided

Taitu'uga will also perform at the Dumaji Muzik Festival the following day, extending the workshop experience into a live celebration of music and community. 🔥

A big thank you to SCA, Hit Mackay and the Whitsundays and Triple M Mackay & The Whitsundays for helping us spread the word about our Reef Trail 2026 and share the artists, events and experiences happening across the region.

Radio is the home of music, so we love it as a medium for helping us bring people together through music.

We’re grateful to have Southern Cross Austereo along for the ride, helping us turn up the volume on our Reef Trail and take the sounds of the Trail even further. 💛

The Outback Trail returns for its fifth year from 8 - 22 May 2027! 🤠🌵

From Charleville to Mount Isa, an Outback Queensland adventure is calling and music leads the way on our one-of-a-kind self-drive adventure that blends live music experiences, unforgettable landscapes, and the warmth of country communities like no other.

More details of the line-up will drop when tickets go on sale on Tuesday 13 October but here's a taste of what we have planned next year 👇

Troy Cassar-Daley will headline Dusty Days in Longreach at the QANTAS Founders Museum. In the year that would have marked Slim Dusty's 100th birthday, we will celebrate Australian music icon Slim Dusty and look beyond his legend to celebrate the past, present and future of Australian country music. QLD Music Trails present Dusty Days in association with Opera Queensland's Festival of Outback Opera.

Tori Darke returns to the Outback with us to host, guide, perform along the 1,200km journey from Charleville to Mount Isa as our Trail Ambassador.

The Outback Trail has always been about more than live music — it's about what happens when culture, connection and community come together. 🎶🥁

In 2026, the Trail supported 82 Queenslanders in employment, including 41 First Nations artists and arts workers, and generated $2.9 million in visitor expenditure for regional Queensland.

In 2027, we're building on that impact — bringing more music, more communities and more stories to the road.

Congratulations to our finalist Jess White Music on her fantastic performance at the weekend. Jess performed as our QMF Wildcard finalist at the Ekka Country Music Showdown.

Our wild card entry was selected from a group of emerging country music artists who performed on this year's Outback Trail. Jess performed at the North Gregory Hotel in Winton, impressing our panel with her raw talent.

Keep your eyes peeled for more to come from this up-and-coming star. 🌟
