🌈 Happy Pride Month! 🌈

This Pride Month, the Queensland LGBTQIA+ Alliance is proud to bring the LGBTQIA+ Sector Forum to Gimuy, Cairns.

Building on the success and momentum of the Carswell Forum in Brisbane, we continue our joint efforts to drive generational, long-lasting change across Queensland’s LGBTQIA+ sector 💪🤝

Bringing together LGBTQIA+ community members, key stakeholders, government representatives, and industry leaders, the Forum creates a space to learn, share, connect, and amplify the exceptional work being done by, for, and with LGBTQIA+ Queenslanders.

We look forward to celebrating Pride Month with community and continuing to strengthen our sector through collaboration, shared learning, and collective impact.

🏳️‍🌈 See you in Gimuy (Cairns) on 16 June 2026!

If you’re LGBTIQA+ and 18+, take the survey now.

📣If you know any LGBTIQA+ folks, please share this post widely!

Private Lives 4 is the fourth iteration of this landmark survey, and we need LGBTIQA+ adults to tell us about their health, wellbeing, lives, challenges, joys and communities.

Results from this survey - funded by the Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing - will help inform policy, advocacy, service providers, health professionals and more about the needs, strengths and priorities of LGBTIQA+ adults in Australia.

Our major population surveys are the largest source of Australian data on the health and wellbeing of our communities, so we need as many people as possible to participate!

⏰ Two weeks and counting until our inaugural LGBTQIA+ Sector Forum in Far North Queensland.

We’re excited to showcase an exceptional lineup of speakers who will explore the importance of place-based practice, meaningful engagement, culture, community safety, stigma reduction, and the critical role of lived experience in informing policy and systems change.

As the first forum of its kind in regional Queensland, it responds directly to what LGBTQIA+ people in Far North Queensland have told us matters most. Distance, access, workforce capacity, crisis response, greater tailored victim support, and safe service navigation. These are not abstract issues; they are everyday realities requiring action.

By bringing together regional lived experience, local leadership, government representatives, service providers, and LGBTQIA+ organisations, the forum will create opportunities for shared learning, stronger partnerships, and solutions shaped by the voices of those who know these challenges firsthand.

👉🏻 Swipe through to meet the speakers.

💬This week at the 2026 Leading Reform Summit reinforced the enormous potential we have collectively and individually, to create meaningful change in people’s lives.

💬Our key messages were clear: LGBTQIA+ people and communities must have genuine ownership, involvement and recognition of place based realities and solutions.

💎 Ensure policy, practice and research prioritises the unique needs and priorities of LGBTQIA+ Queenslanders.

💎The importance of building systems that support advanced local solutions grounded in People, Place and Partnerships.

💎 Embed LGBTQIA+ Lived Experience at every level.

💎 The critical role that funding and investment play in shaping reform to improve how care is delivered within local LGBTQIA+ communities, no matter where people live across Queensland.

Our Queensland LGBTQIA+ Alliance has a clear focus on turning shared vision into action and generational change.

Thank you Queensland Mental Health Commission for a packed 2 day summit!

Today,on National Sorry Day, we honour the strength, resilience, and survival of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, especially Stolen Generations survivors, their families, loved ones and communities.

We reflect and recognise the pain, intergenerational trauma and ongoing impacts of forced child removal, we also honour the courage of those who continue to share their stories and keep culture strong.

From Sorry to Action. Together, we walk forward with truth, respect, and solidarity.
