The Central MA Center on Food Equity (CFE) is a cohort of community individuals, front-line providers, research, and community partners that are working together to reduce hunger in Central Massachusetts. The Center ser

ves as an umbrella structure for 3 intersecting coalitions: The Worcester Food Policy Council, The Central MA SNAP Coalition, and the City of Worcester Taskforce on Food Security. The Center and the work of the coalitions are being funded by Worcester County Food Bank as part of its advocacy program.

We're excited to announce that Worcester Stories of Food and Housing Insecurity is live on the 1st floor of Worcester Public Library, thanks to the hard work of Jillian Lang! Drop by and hear about how federal food and housing policies are affecting our neighbors here in Worcester. We're still collecting stories from community members, and are offering an incentive for folks with housing access stories to share. See the last card for details. Since this event, thousands more people - including children, veterans, older adults and people with disabilities have had their benefits reduced or ended. Congratulations and the absolute best of wishes to El Buen Samaritano Food Program Inc. Worcester, MA and Mari Gonzalez on their huge announcement! EBSamaritano is celebrating the Grand Opening of a second location tomorrow May 26, from 11 to 2 PM,, and the entire community is invited to celebrate with them. From the statement:

"While the SWM proposal includes funding for Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) caseworkers that would likely maintain the same number of caseworkers as the end of 2025, increased funding is needed to ensure the DTA staff can keep up with increased demand. Staff capacity to adequately serve clients that need support applying for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and other federally funded human services may affect the federal funding the Commonwealth gets to serve vulnerable populations for years to come"
