CMHA: The Housing Alliance has reached a new milestone. We have purchased our first multi-family home with the plan to preserve this naturally occurring affordable housing in Worcester. For a long time, CMHA has advocated for affordable housing and now we are taking action – owning and preserving affordable housing. Four families will maintain affordable housing through this purchase.

A huge thank you to UMass Memorial Health and UniBank MA for making this possible, and to WorcesterMulti for walking us through this purchase. These partnerships are critical to turning our commitment to affordable housing into action and creating real solutions during our City’s housing crisis.

In Loving Memory of Our Friend and Board Member, Paul Giorgio

The CMHA family is deeply saddened by the passing of Paul Giorgio, a member of our Board of Directors and a valued friend to our organization and the Worcester community.

Paul dedicated so much of his life to serving Worcester through his business, civic, and community involvement. We were fortunate to have his time, wisdom, perspective, and genuine commitment to CMHA and the people we serve.

Paul played a crucial role in the procurement and development of our Resource Center; A lasting contribution that will make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who walk through our doors. We will always be grateful for the impact he had on our organization and our community.

Our hearts are with Bernie, Paul’s family and friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

What a meaningful afternoon at CMHA: The Housing Alliance!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the ribbon cutting and helped us celebrate this important milestone for our clients, our staff, and our community.

As our CEO Leah, the Mayor Joe Petty, Councilor Ojeda, the City Manager, Worcester Business Development Center, Senator Mike Moore, Senator Robyn Kennedy and others shared, this new space represents an important step forward in how we serve the people who rely on CMHA. We quickly realized just how important this non-profit center is when our neighbors began sending people our way for support and we could send folks to them seamlessly. This move has already been so meaningful: a place where our clients can connect with services, support, and people who are here to help. The City of Worcester recognized the need for a one-stop center where nonprofits could come together to better serve our community, and by moving into this space, CMHA is proud to be part of bringing that vision to life.

Bringing all of our staff together under one roof also strengthens the way we work. Being together allows us to collaborate more closely, communicate more easily, and work as one team in support of our clients.

We are incredibly grateful to the Crock family – especially Katie who has been so accommodating to us. We also couldn’t have done this without the support of our Board of Directors and our staff.

This is more than a new space. It is about creating greater access, stronger connections, and better support for the people and families we serve. We are grateful, proud, and excited for what comes next!!

A HUGE thank you to the four wonderful volunteers from MassHire Central Career Center who joined us for United Way of Central Massachusetts Day of Action on Friday!

They generously gave our Donations Clearinghouse some much-needed love, cleaning, organizing, and even bringing some furniture back to life! Their hard work, positive attitudes, and willingness to pitch in made such a difference.
